Greetings everyone
I wanted to let you know that we have a Forum Calendar. You can access the calendar from the menu by clicking on “Calendar”. You will notice two different icons in the calendar. One icon is a birthday cake which is used for birthdays and the other icon is a yellow sticky which is used for topics.
'Birthday icon'
'Topic icon'
* Birthday Management *
When you register in this forum, you will notice in your Profile section that there is a place for you to enter your birthday. It asks for the day, month and year. Once you enter your date of birth, your age appears under your Avatar in the forums. Well, our wonderful Editboard staff (the people who host this forum) have made a change at the request of it's members :). It is no longer necessary to enter a year. You can leave that section blank which I think is a nice feature because your age is not displayed all the time in the forums.
When you enter your date of birth in your Profile, it automatically shows up in the calendar. Also, you will notice at the bottom of the forum that there is a section that tells you which users are having a birthday and also which users have a birthday coming up in the next 10 days.
So, if you have not done so already, go to your Profile and enter your birthday so that it shows up on the forum calendar. For those that have already entered your date of birth but wish to not display your age, you can go to the profile section and take away the year.
* Topics *
Every registered user has access to the calendar and is able to put events in the calendar. Below are the instruction on adding an event/topic to the calendar:
1. Create a new post. 2. Just like you normally would, talk about your event, post pictures related to the event if you like. 3. Before hitting the 'Send' button, you will notice that there is a Calendar option below the post window. To open up the calendar option, click on the image at the right. 4. This now opens up the calendar window where you enter the date of the event. 5. It is not necessary for you to put the time of the event but of course you can if you want to. 6. Once you have entered the date and time, submit your post. Your event has now been added to the calendar.
When you open the calendar and click on the event topics, it automatically takes you to the Post that was made regarding the event.
I made one of the posts an event topic so you can look at it and see how it works. (See February 17th).
I hope everyone enjoys the forum calendar. If anyone has any questions or suggestions, please let me know here or send me a PM.
Thanks and happy foruming!  |
