The kids and I are leaving this Saturday (the 4th) to go on a week long camping trip with my dad. Tim plans on joining us for at least a couple of days during the week. It will be a much needed break for all of us. We'll be back on July 12th. I may come home sooner, depending on how things go. We are very much looking forward to it though!

Glad you had fun Pam...I think the campground you go to in Brighton is the one that my friend (who lives in Howell) is always telling us we need to try out. Such a pretty area over there...Bill & I have said we'd love to live in that area---lots of trees and an 'up north' feel.

We're off to Traverse City in just a couple weeks...can't wait! Nick is up there right now with my parents---I'm so jealous!!

Yes, Rob. The nights did get pretty chilly. Thank goodness for warm sleeping bags and heat! And, of course, a nice toasty campfire to take the chill out of the night air.

I love Brighton too, Amy. They have so many beautiful older homes and plenty of lakes in the area. It really does have that 'up north' feel. If you mean your friend from the DQ discussion board, that is the campground she goes too. I remember way back when, when I participated in that forum we had discussed that campground.

I am so jealous you are going to Traverse City. That is one of my favorite places in Michigan and I haven't been there in several years.

Hi Rob....I'm at the laundrymat right now here in T.C. and thought I'd pop on. Today is one of the nicest days, and here I sit in the laundrymat! Shouldn't take too much longer though. It's been gorgeous up here, but not hot enough for the beach. Not for us anyway...when I go to the beach I like it HOT. We camp right across from the bay, so it's can get chilly in the campground. It's been really great though and I'm in no hurry to go home! We'll be leaving on Saturday. Our friends stayed with us for 3 days and that was really nice. We're camping with my parents now.

Hey Amy! Glad you're having a good time, but I can imagine the nights have been a little on the chilly side. We've been in the mid 40s here at night, so I'm guessing it was close to that in TC, too.

I'm home! We got back around 5:00 tonight and have been working hard ever since, getting things unpacked. We had quite the rain this morning (as you know Rob, I'm sure!) and that's never fun to pack things up in the rain when you're camping! But alls well that ends well.

Yeah, there wasn't one night that we didn't use the 'furnace' in the trailer, Rob...just crazy. You'd never know it's August!!!

I'm glad that you're back safely, Amy! It sure seems odd to have to use a furnace in July or August, doesn't it?? We had those torrential rains all morning here, too....then gentler rains for the rest of the day. And we had quite a storm overnight, too!

Edited to add: You'll know that it's August today!!

Welcome home, Amy! Yeah, the storm rolled through here at about 5:30 AM. Seemed to bring the humidity with it. Looks like we're in for about a week of real summer.

Yep, it seems almost ironic that we are bombarded with serious beach weather on the day I arrive HOME! I told the boys we'll hit Lake Michigan before school starts---we got cheated on our 'water time', that's for sure!
