| Rose is kidnapped by a woman who has lost a baby and Nancy is forced to chop down a Christmas story.
This episode was sad, because of the woman who lost her baby and the fact that little Rose gets kidnapped. I love felt the way the Wilder's handled her was wonderful. They could have turned her over to the authorities, but instead they let her go considering what she's gone through. They show that they do have compassion for others, plus they were able to get Rose back. The fact that they found a home for that orphan boy who stowed away in their wagon was wonderful. I have always love Little House On the Prairie. _________________ Be who you are & say what you feel because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind. |

| I like the parts where Nancy is forced to chop the Christmas Tree. But almost all things, I love when Mr. Montague disguises himself in Santa to bring gifts to Carter's boys. It's so sweet.

| This was not my favorite Christmas episode because a) it was Christmas time and they were walking around without any coats on; b) the end was a bit overdone; and c) Almanzo would not have left Rose.
But I watch it upon occasion because I love to see Mr. Montague as Santa and the message is nice. _________________ All my life, I wanted to be like you - Laura to Ma in The Last Farewell

| Not my very favorite christmas epie, but as I said above, I like what Mr. Montague did to make the Carter children happy.
And Nancy's parts where really funny.
The rest of the episode was not too nice: Rose's kidnapping was too much dramatic, and the whole story, not very ...not very beliable. And yes: it is supposed that a Christmas celebration in the USA's must involve some kind of snow; and much more if it is in the North...Isn't it?

| This episode wasn't one of my favorites either except of course for Mr. Montague & what Nancy did as well. _________________ Be who you are & say what you feel because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind. |

Now, I don't remember too much about this episode because I won't watch it too often, but the one thing I think they did very well was the emotions that Almanzo and Laura went through as they searched for Rose. I think at one point Almanzo blamed himself and then later-closer to the end--Laura blamed him and made some awful comment about Isaiah.
The worst moment was when Laura told the woman who kidnapped Rose that there would be no charges. There was no emotion in her voice at all. It was strange because Melissa delivers her lines so well, and this one fell totally flat. Even her face showed no emotion. Here is Laura, having just found her daughter, you would think there would be more emotion in her voice and that she would be crying tears of joy over finding Rose.

| I have to say that this is not one of my favorite episodes...the ending was way too melodramatic and unbelievable for me (even though I did like the fact that they did find a home for the orphan boy), and I too had trouble believing that Almanzo would leave Rose to go after Mr. Edwards. I love Little House to pieces, but this movie left me a little cold...
Sorry, hope I'm not offending anyone with my opinion...just my thoughts... |

| This is my least favorite of the three post-series movies. The Last Farewell is my favorite, BTW. No, it didn't seem very believable for it to be Christmas time in Minnesota when people were walking around without coats. Although, in Michael Landon's narration at the beginning (in character as Charles Ingalls), he does mention that spring came early, or something like that, it would be very unusual for it to be so warm. That reminds me that with a handful of exceptions, it always seemed to be warm and sunny in Walnut Grove.
Another issue with this episode is the timeline. The opening narration mentions that the year is 1896. How could that be? We know that season 2 took place in 1876 by the episode Centennial. But in what was supposed to be 1896, Nancy was how old -- 12, 13 maybe? And we know there was no gap in the timeline before Nancy was adopted, because she appeared in the show when Carrie, Albert, and Grace were still on the show. I don't think they ever gave Nancy's age on the show, but I'm guessing she was a year or so older than Carrie. With that in mind, Nancy should have been about 25 in 1896. Jenny and the Carter kids should have been grown up by then also. I guess we can also chalk this one up to sloppy writing. _________________

| I was thinking exactly the same about the 1896 whole thing...I tought it must have been a bad translation from English to Spanish...but, not. It WAS 1896 in English too! It just can't be for a lot of reasons, but the most important of al of them was Rose's age in movie.
I remember very well that she was born in 1886...so it's OBVIOUS that in 1896 Rose Wilder must have been exactly TEN years old. Not to mentioning Jenny and Nancy, who arrived to the show in the middle or lates 1880's having around nine or ten years old . She must have been late teenagers in 1896...If they wouldn't have 20 or so on...
Hmmmmm.

| And didn't they say at the beginning of Times of Change which opens Season 9 that it was 1887 then? I'm just taking the date from memory, so I'm not sure, but if that's the case then no one aged for 9 years. I wonder if I can do that. _________________ All my life, I wanted to be like you - Laura to Ma in The Last Farewell

| I am really glad that there was a Christmas movie, although we as fan chew it to bits! I saw this on not too long ago and couldnt help but think Isaiah wouldnt have dared drink again after almost killing Albert. I know people fall off the "wagon" (LOL) but he did almost loose his friendship with Charles over Albert. THe scene in the motel room where Laura gets really angrey at Manly for leaving Rose is my favorite part....(I think its a bit late--I would have lost it at the first thought of Rose being taken) but Melissa was her awesome self in her role. (Your right Cheryl....Dean...I mean Manly wouldn't have left Rose EVER!) LOL I have to admit I dont think about the year too much, but I see your point in that....weird. Nancy....well, I can live without that sweet thing. Everytime my husband notices an episode with her in it he yells..."Leave the "Bow Girl" in the well!!!!" (He dosen't learn names other than the basic few) LOL Mr. Montague reached his shining moment delivering gifts to the Carters. He was made for that part....I truly love his character. I know there's alot of heavy stuff to say about the Carters even existing but I do love that family. They looked so odd in the Little House....I do wish Isaiah had taken that over. Jenny looks like she belongs to the Carters and I wish she had been theirs. I am glad that Pamela Roylance and Stan Ivar have treasured their roles with Little House. I do think they earned the time they were there. How nice it would be to have Dean and Melissa come together for a Mansfield Christmas???? They could film it in Manly and Laura's home???? |

| | despite the fact that Rose was kidnapped and it took a few days for Laura and Almanzo to find her, I liked this episode because of Nellie chopping down the Christmas Tree and having it come through her living room window. I think in this episode Nellie may have finally realised that Nels doesnt really like her |
