| "GOING HOME"
After a tornado ruins his crop, Charles decides to sell the land and return to the Big Woods of Wisconsin without consulting his family. In this episode Mary and John Junior, Mr. Edward's son, share their first kiss before she leaves. After the Ingalls begin thinking about the good times in Walnut Grove, they decide to stay in Walnut Grove and give things another try.
Ah, the final episode of Season 2! I must say it was a great way to end the season. I really like this episode. It has one of my favorite moments (Mary’s first kiss).
At first I thought it was out of character for Charles to act the way he did… but then again I had to give him credit… he’s been a good man and everyone can break down once in a while or act a certain way that is not normal…
Caroline was sort of quiet about the whole moving and selling the property deal… I wished she would have spoken up in a loud but caring voice and said: “Charles, I am NOT giving up on this family and this property… together we can do this, I know YOU can, you’re stronger than this!” LOL
Since the very beginning it seemed like he was giving up too early… Laura sort of confronted him and told him that… but she was a little girl… she could only do so much, but it turns out that what she did was the biggest thing to do… pray to God to give Charles strength and hope.
Anyway, great episode! _________________

| Every time I watch this one, I can almost feel Charles anguish when the tornado cames and destroyed almost all he had. All these poor beast dead... all the damages in his porperty...What an awful thing!
And I was also sad for the girls, who believed they must left Walnut Grove and his friends and boy-friend (in Mary's case) behind....Happily, Charles was not so stubborn and became wise enough to stay in Walnut Grove.
Oh...I have a question: the Ingalls seems to be the only ones who were strike by the tornado in all Hero Township. Is this possible?

| I loved this episode. I could see that at some point Charles, in a moment of haste, would want to return to where it was familiar, to where they had family. I think Caroline played it smart in this episode, not speaking too much of her mind so that Charles could find his way again. The old couple in this one was great too. _________________ All my life, I wanted to be like you - Laura to Ma in The Last Farewell

| I thought the older couple was a good truth to how we learn from our "elders" today. But I think they all realized that they really were all happy where they were. Its all the simply things that are really important. This is one of those epy's that you can watch over and over and it still touch you. _________________ It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. | I thought the older couple was really sweet. The ending when the lady looks down at the little house... you can see in her face it hurt her a little to not be able to buy the place.... but the love for her husband is stronger than a material things... and deep down, what mattered most is that they were together....
I think Michael Landon really liked the phrase "As Long as We're Together". He used it as a line in several episodes, and as a Title of 2 episodes... Michael Landon Jr. also used the line in the Love Comes Soft Series... _________________

| Thank you for answer, Jacob! I've also read that a tornado might touch a house and left the house that is near it untouched..but the thing that seemed odd to me in this epie, is that tornado touched ONLY Ingalls house and any other in Hero Township.
I loved the elder couple. They seemed so happy of being going old together! They remind me me grandparents.

| Yes, Vanesa, it is. Here where I live, there was a tordano years ago. It picked up a entire house, turned it around, and set it back down on the foundation, leaving other houses and the store next to it untouched. _________________

| This one is a good one ....I found it hard to watch Ma just be told once again they were moving on ,,,she obviously didnt want to go ...imagine your place being your feelings aren't voiced unless asked for.....in other episodes Ma seem to be able to to voice her opinion better lol I Loved the scenes with John Jr and Mary and when Mary told Laura about her kiss ....so glad the older couple knew what was for the better good .....Pa's reaction of running into his family yelling is wonderful |
