| This came from one of my daughter's puzzle books, I thought it's really interesting to play (solve).
William likes apples better than oranges, and vanilla ice cream better than chocolate. He would rather watch a baseball or football game on TV than hockey, enjoys summer and fall more than spring and winter, thinks Newsweek a better magazine than Time, and is convinced that High Noon is a greater Western movie than Destry Rides Again.
Can you explain why William has these preferences? _________________

| Yes, Savannah, you got it!!
How many peaches?
Joy's father brought a paper sack home from the supermarket. It contained a certain number of peaches. Joy took no peaches from the sack, and she left no peaches in the sack. How many peaches were inside the sack? _________________

| Okay - I have two theories. #1. The answer is based on grammar: Joy took no peaches from the sack - she took one. Joy left no peaches in the sack - she left one. So there must have been two peaches. #2 The answer is also based on grammar: Joy's father bought a dozen peaches. On the way home, he got hungry and ate them ALL. "The sack contained a certain number of peaches" - past tense. They were all gone now. Joy took no peaches from the sack, 'cause doggonit, Dad ate 'em all! Joy left no peaches in the sack - 'cause doggonit, Dad ate 'em all!! And Dad? He's in bed now, with a terrible stomach ache.
Theory #1 is more plausible, but theory #2 is more fun. _________________

| Hey Rhonda, that's a good answer. But, it's not the correct answer in the book. _________________
