| Okay, let's get started by deciding which episodes in Season 9 we will keep, which we will toss out, and which ones we will keep but change.
Each episode will have it's own poll/thread. Feel free to provide information on how you came about your decision.
Important note: These polls will only run for 14 days.
Have fun!

| I'll have to provide more thoughts on this episode later. I do want to keep it, but if Royal is introduced again I would like to see him come either as a widower with his two boys or with Millie in tow. And no Jenny to be found.

| It's hard to say, but I definitely don't like how a major portion of these episodes focused on Royal's dying and Jenny (in general), LOL. I would like to keep this episode, but change it, possibly showing Laura's reflections on her family moving away - it was barely touched on. And maybe start to introduce the Ingalls' lives in the city. Also, should we keep the Carters or not? If we don't, then pretty much every episode will be affected somehow. Lots to think about! _________________

| I can't say the Carters ever really bothered me; what did was that they moved into the little house on Plum Creek. But honestly, if Charles was having a hard time making a living in WG, then he would need to sell the house to somebody.
I'm sure there are a whole bunch of options, but here are a few I thought of. A widowed Royal, buys the house from Charles and moves to WG with Myron and Rupert. The loss of Millie is too much for him to handle, so he moves as far away from his life in the city as possible. And since both Almanzo and Royal grew up on a farm, it's not a big stretch to think Royal would be willing to live that way again--especially with the motivation of forgetting the life he had with Millie.
Royal and his boys basically replace the Carter family in this instance, but this would, as you mentioned, affect every episode that the Carters were in.
The Carters still move to WG, but Royal and Jenny do not. This also affects many epsiodes, but I think it is easier to not write in Jenny, then it is to remove an entire family out of all the episodes. There are too many instances where the various members of the Carter family are in different scenes--in town, in school, and tagging along with Almanzo and Laura.
We keep all the characters--Royal, Jenny, and the Carters--but only change the storyline as to why Royal and Jenny come to WG.
We keep all the characters, but Royal and Jenny (his adopted daughter) move into the little house on Plum Creek and the Carters move into a different house. Do we add Myron, Rupert, and/or Millie? And, what could Royal's motivation be for moving?
Grace moves to WG after the death of her husband. Alicia--and perhaps Carl--move with her. Not sure about age difference b/w Laura and Carl, so he could be married by this time. Grace moves into the little house on Plum Creek. This affects the episode "Love", which I enjoy, but if it brings Grace and Isaiah back together, then I'm cool with that.
Okay, I'll shut up now.

| The Ingallses moves, but not to Burr Oak, but to De Smet, just to have the story to fit a little more with the real Ingalls story. Of course they sells the house...Maybe to Mr Montague, the writer who comes to see how live was in the "wild west"? We may discuss it further.
Royal comes to Walnut Grove, but along with Millie, Myron and Ruppert and NO JENNY. Maybe they could purchase Ingalls little house and not Mr. Montague. In any case, I wish they could be regular citizens of Walnut Grove...and if the writers wants a lady running the local paper (not to lost the original storyline) the one who runs it could be Millie Wilder.
What do you think about these few ideas?

I like the idea of Mr. Montague moving into the Ingalls old house instead - we could include him in a lot of the other episodes if he is introduced early on Also someone else mentioned making part 2 about the Ingalls in the city, I like that suggestion as well _________________

| Mr. Montague in the Ingalls house? I can't really see him living there... lol If he did, he would hire a bunch of people to expand it and renovate it
I CAN see Mr. Edwards there... and because of sentimental reasons, Mr. Edwards would live in the house just as it is, as it belonged to his closest friends. This would make the opening scene of Times Are Changing a lot different. Laura didn't really like it when she saw the Carters move to her old home... but if Mr. Edwards did... there would be a really nice sentimental heart to heart talk. _________________

| Yes, Mr. Edwards in the Little House! I like that idea a lot! I could take the Carters living in Walnut Grove, but give them a different home (not the Little House). If Royal Wilder appears, I would have it with "the nephews", not "the niece". And yes, I'd like to see the Ingalls adjusting to city life. I'd like to see Jonathan and Andy Garvey worked into season 9 somehow, but not necessarily in this episode. It would be good to see Mary and Adam come for a visit too. _________________

| Great! When I was a teen I was dying to see a nice and hilarious epie with Jonathan and Isaiah together. Unfortunately, it will not be possible any more, since Victor French is dead by now...

I always thought that would've been entertaining too. Maybe we could create an episode where they meet - or at least, work it into an existing episode.
That's another topic entirely I guess - how will we replace any epiodes we toss? With totally new ideas, or should we vote on those too...? Cheryl, we are sure keeping you busy coordinating this! LOL. _________________

| Whoa! One step at a time. LOL! I think what we'll do is try to come up with a time line from where the first episode starts to the end of Season 9. Laura's narrative in Times Are Changing mentions a date, so that will be easy. Other than that, we'll have to go by what the farmers are doing for work--sowing, plowing, or harvesting--and put in a dash of creative license.
We will probably just substitute episodes in the same slots for the ones that get eliminated in the polls. So, say Marvin's Garden is no longer in the line up, then we come up with a story which makes sense at the same point in the time line that Marvin's Garden took place. And luckily, this episode also has some seasons mentioned in it (Laura's narrative again) so we will be able to know what part of the farming season we are in.
