Boy, it has definitely been a LONG day. Nate and I arrived at the party at 1:30 - Nate had fallen asleep in the car on the way there and since it was his usual nap time, I stayed in the car until he woke up (an additional hour). At 2:30 we went in and walked around. There were two areas where football players were signing autographs (2 players at each area). I didn't see him, so I went to the VIP area for a free drink and let Nate wander around. It was VERY hot and I was sweating like a pig (pardon the rude expression). I kept going past the two autograph areas to look for him, but no luck. It was getting late, Nate was getting extremely antsie in his stroller, and we were both hot. I was about ready to leave when they made an announcement that the Hall of Famers would be there at 5:00 (10 min.). I stuck around and got in the Merlin Olson line. Everything was happening so fast, so there really wasn't time to actually talk to him or ask questions. I just told him that I was a fan and handed him my DVD. He said, "oh, you have one of these, huh?" He autographed my DVD and took a picture with me and by then it was 6:00. Now I'm home and exhausted. Here's the picture:

Gee! He looks very well! I didn't see a pic of him since a long time by now and I found him in an excellent physical condition.

Besides, he seems very friendly and a good person. It's a very good thing that an actor wouldn't dissapoint his fans. I hear about some of them who treated them badly and distroyed in five minutes an admiration that had lasted years. I'm happy that Merlin Olsen wasn't one of these.

I'm so happy for you. What a neat experience! Great picture! My question for you now is how big of a copy are you going to make?
I met my favorite singer one time with a friend and he agreed to have a picture taken with us. That picture started as a 4 X 6 and quickly grew. We decided to have him sign the picture if we could catch him at the next concert. We waited in the hotel lobby(lobby lurkers) until he came off the elevator. By then the 4 X 6 had grown to 11 X14. I held it up and asked loudly if he would sign it. He came over, signed both of our pictures and went on his way, leaving two people speechless in the lobby. It's a memory I will never forget as I'm sure Merlin's visit will be for you. You should try to find an address where you could send a copy of your photo to him for him to sign. I bet he would sign it for you if you asked.

Steph, that must have been so exciting!! I'm glad you were finally able to see him...I'd never know you'd been sweating judging by your pic!
