Okay, for those of you who don't know... the popular Jonas Brothers have stated that they were purity rings as a symbol that they will abstain from premarital sex. I think that is awesome of them.
Well... last night, I tuned in to the 2008 MTV Music Awards and this host from Britain, Russell Brand, spent like 1/2 of the show making fun of them for being virgins 
I was glad when american idol Jordin Sparks spoke up and defended the use of these rings. He was really a jerk and besides making fun of the Jonas brothers he also made fun of Sarah Palin. Who came up w/ the idea of having him host anyway????

| Yeah, I saw the recap of that on one of the entertainment shows last night and today, read that Paris Hilton defended them, too.
I think that if this is what they believe and want to do, more power too them. They are rare in hollywood. I wish there were more like them.
My niece also wears a purity ring and has for awhile now. I think its great.

| yah i have heard about it. twi if my friends absolutley love them. i made a pledge a while ago to stay pure til marriage and i think for my 16th birthday i will get a purity ring.
i think that it was very rude for that guy to make fun of them.

I agree. I read an article from People.com about this today, wow why would the host be such a jerk to them? For one thing, it's none of his business, for another it's completely out of line. And the Jonas Brothers are so popular, I think the fact that they're good role models is great.

| It's interesting that some of those in Hollywood that promote "tolerance" really don't have much of it themselves when it hits close to home.
