California Rare pics

When most people think of California, they think of Los Angeles County: L.A., Hollywood, Disneyland... not too many people think about the other regions of California, there are 58 counties total, like the North Coast, Shasta County, Gold Country, etc...

So here are some pictures from areas of California you don't hear too much about.

Northern California, Shasta County

Beautiful Old Houses in Monrovia California

The 2009 AMGEN Tour of Californa rolls though Montara, California near McNee Ranch State Park on Highway 1 during Stage 2 of the race. This race came all the way to town I work at. It was pretty neat.

His notes: California's Gold Country. About thirty miles east of Sacramento the gold strike set tens of thousands in search of their own piece of the pie. Those who got rich were the suppliers of clothes, Levi-Strauss, and equipment and booze and women. Gold country is a lovely place to hike, white water raft and stroll for antiques. I did all three. The town of Auburn burned down three times in the 1850s after that they got a real fire truck and some building codes. It was the real wild West.

Silicon Valley, home to Google and Yahoo. A lot of wealthy people live here

California Highway 128 runs past many vineyards and wine tasting rooms in Anderson Valley. Here it passes Navarro Vineyards with Greenwood Ridge Winery next.

I'm sorry I missed these pics when you originally posted them Carol....they are gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing the 'other side' of CA with us! I would love to go there someday!! My aunt lives in San Jose...we always wanted to take a trip and stay with her, but she is now in her late 80's and her health is ailing. My parents went there for their 40th anniversary and loved it...their favorite place was San Diego.
