It's been a while since I've seen this episode, but I believe Sylvia falls off a ladder trying to escape her attacker and dies after suffering internal injuries in the fall.

I like the episode,but wish she had lived. If anyone died,in my opinion it should of been the rapist.

The rapist does die, FanofLHOTP1. I don't think he survived the gunshot.

One of my all time favorite episodes even though it is sad and disturbing.

I'm with you I like this episode. It is disturbing, but it shows what girls of that time period dealt with. I do wish she and Albert had married. It would have been good to see how those so young dealt with marriage. Olivia was a very good actress with Matt.

They probably felt that the relationship between the characters would have been far too exhausted if they had married. It was a very interesting tease though which successfully kept us engrossed in the story.
