Lip dub

I posted this on the board a few years ago, but came across it again this morning and thought it deserved a second look.

This is a lip dub that they did in Traverse City, a lovely little tourist town on the shores of Lake Michigan, about 45 miles west of where I live.  A lot of the featured "singers" are local personalities - TV people, deejays, etc.  The roller-skating ladies who show up just after the 4-minute mark are the Toxic Cherries, Traverse City's roller derby team.  It's like the ballet to us. 

The area around the town grows a lot of cherries, so TC's nickname is the Cherry Capital.  That's why the giant floral cherry logo at the end.

Ahh, Traverse.  As you know, this place is near and dear to my heart, as both my parents are from there.  So much fun to see recognizable places as I watch this video!  What a neat thing to do!  Thanks for sharing it again Rob! I remember these Lip Dubs were really popular for awhile! I wonder why we don't see them like we used to?

 I recognize almost all the locales, too.  I especially love the part where they arrive at the lakefront (bayfront, actually).    I only recognized two people.  The guy at the 1:00 mark is news anchorman Marc Schollett... who was promptly muscled out and replaced by his co-anchor, Diana Fairbanks.

Oh, I know!  Some of them were so creative.  I wonder if people stopped doing them only because they took so much planning and arranging.

And last time I was there - just about two months ago - I was surprised at how clear the Boardman River (2:50) was. I remember way back, I'd stand on that bridge and look down, and it was VERY murky. It's a lot better now.

Like the ballet?? You'd better clarify which ballet you're going to the next time you ask a lady out. Otherwise you might see her looking like this: in the seat next to you.

Those lip-dubs are a lot of fun. I enjoyed "touring" Traverse through the video. I'm glad that you posted it again.

I wish the quality was a little better---I was really scanning people because I have so many relatives and family friends up there---makes me wonder if any of them made an appearance!!

My dad almost drowned in the Boardman River.  True story.  He was 4 or 5 (and as the youngest of 8 kids, was allowed to roam downtown and do whatever he wanted to), and a friend of his older brother's saved his life.  He literally could not swim a lick.  If it weren't for that friend, it's safe to say I would not be here!

One day we will all go up there and tour Traverse TOGETHER.  Wouldn't that be a blast?!
