We talked about this a few years ago, but it still makes no sense when Capt. Von Trapp tells Rolfe, "You'll never be one of them." If he'd said it in a gentle voice, Rolfe might have taken it to mean, "You're one of us. You're good." But he used a sneering tone, so heeeere come the Nazis!
Maybe he just figured that, since he had the gun, Rolfe was no longer a threat.

That's a very good point! That line always makes me want to reach in and smack the back of the captain's head. (I'm generally non-violent...in spite of my pan-wielding ways. But he was SO CLOSE to swaying Rolfe!! )
I read that years later they went back to their home, and that they found that the Nazis had turned their family-chapel building into a Nazi headquarters. A horrifying use for their place of contemplation and family worship.
