Applause

There are several full-length high school productions of Sound of Music on YouTube.  I was just hopping through this one, and it has some very nice singing.

We talked about this a few years ago, but it still makes no sense when Capt. Von Trapp tells Rolfe, "You'll never be one of them."  If he'd said it in a gentle voice, Rolfe might have taken it to mean, "You're one of us.  You're good."  But he used a sneering tone, so heeeere come the Nazis!

Maybe he just figured that, since he had the gun, Rolfe was no longer a threat.

I couldn't imagine what they had to go through just to get out of their own country. Just so they could continue to live free. Such a journey that family took just to stay together... No

That's a very good point! That line always makes me want to reach in and smack the back of the captain's head. yes (I'm generally non-violent...in spite of my pan-wielding ways. batEyes But he was SO CLOSE to swaying Rolfe!! )

I read that years later they went back to their home, and that they found that the Nazis had turned their family-chapel building into a Nazi headquarters. No A horrifying use for their place of contemplation and family worship.

Bump

showpop
That time of year.....Not real sure what the 'Sing-Along' part is, unless they have the words to the songs in 'bubbles' or have the 'bouncing ball' on the words.....Anyway....HEADS UP....TONIGHT on ABC! Info below is for Central Time...

The Sound of Music: Sing-a-Long
6:00 PM on KSPRD 33.1, 4 hr 1965
The enduring 1965 Best Picture Oscar winner tells the story of the Von Trapp family in pre-World War II Austria, and the Rodgers and Hammerstein score includes "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Edelweiss," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and the title song.
