Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum:

October 20, 1915
It was 100 years ago today that Rose sent a letter to her Papa (Almanzo) explaining why Bess (Laura) hadn't written to him.  She was hurt by a streetcar the week before.  But all was well.
It was not her fault at all. She was going downtown with Gillette, and he jumped off the street car while it was going full speed. She stood up suddenly, surprised by the what he did, and fell of, striking the back of her head on the stone pavement.  Things looked pretty bad for awhile, but they got her to a hospital right away and the doctor said there was no danger, it was only a superficial wound, no fracture or anything like that. She is coming home today.

Just another reason we want to preserve Laura's life for our young generation of readers.Donate Here

From Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum:

This is week 27 of construction.  The front is having landscape work done and concrete being poured for the walkway in front. I have a view of the front lawn at Laura's farm house to the new museum. You have to visualize a path that we are going to make.  It's going to be so nice to be able to walk the whole way from the Museum to the white farm house and then over to the Rock house.  With your help we can get it all finished.

A plea for help with funding from William Anderson.... DONATE HERE  Thumbsup
Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum:

"Dear Friends of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Books: I have served on the board of directors of the Wilder Home and Museum for many years. Our small non-profit has achieved some great things over the decades in the preservation and development of the Wilder homeplace and its artifacts. We are now undertaking our biggest project ever---the building of a new museum and visitors' center. Our fund-raising has come up short. In order to finish the new museum and its associated need-- we truly need more funding. As our director, Jean Coday has said: 'If readers of the books worldwide would just send us $10, $25, $50...or whatever they can--we would be able to finish this up well." Won't you consider helping us in this last stretch? We really need you! The crowd-funding option above is a quick and easy way for you to show your support in our endeavor. And, we hope to prepare a wonderful experience when you visit or re-visit the site. Thanks in advance, William Anderson"

The museum lit up at night.  This was taken by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum at their Christmas at Laura's on December 4th.  Looks like most everything is finished up; just needing the paths from one building to the other.  For those who would like to help, you can donate to the cause using the link in the above thread.  I know they would really appreciate it.
Wink

'Opening day at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum is approaching! Tuesday, March first is the beginning of the 59th season of visitors arriving at Rocky Ridge Farm, home of Almanzo, Laura and Rose Wilder. This year, tours will begin at our beautiful new museum-visitors' center, just west of the historic home. Who will be the first visitor to officially tour the new museum next week?'
