Charlotte Stewart's New Book

I totally understand that the actors are not the characters that they portray. . . But I really do wish that we still lived in a society where it wasn't so completely socially acceptable to not only discuss intimate details about one's sexual activity and list all of one's partners, but also to write a book about it as well. I rather regret just what I read in the short amount that I scanned in the attached link. That isn't a slam at you, either, Dave. I appreciate it that you brought this book to the Prairie's attention. I just wish that Charlotte Stewart would have kept her private life a little more. . . y'know. . . private. But I'm just old-fashioned that way.

I totally agree with you! I have been disappointed in general with the books that have been published regarding Little House actors. Just once, I would like to see one of them write a book on the every day happenings on the set. Lord knows, the main cast was on there long enough and I'm sure there are a lot of stories to tell about events that occurred while filming the series such as guest star experiences , etc..

Like you, I am old fashioned that way and really don't care about the intimate stuff that they are so bent on telling everyone.

If Matt and Pat wrote a book about growing up on that set in Simi Valley, I would buy it in a minute! But that's just me.

Unfortunately, I guess it takes the juicy stuff to sell books nowadays!

Yes, I feel that is why Melissa Gilbert's book was like that. They wanted discourse and sex and fighting to some degree because it sells. But it's not always a needed option. I know Michael was far from an angel and Victor French was loved by most, I don't know if this will be interesting or not. I might get a free sample on my Kindle and see.
I loved James Garner and bought his autobiography. I loved it and it was pretty clean, he was always careful to be polite and courteous and told wonderful stories about family and coworkers without hurting anyone. You got the point at times without the lurid descriptions. I wish more could do the same.

I realize though that Charlotte was not as big of a star and people will only know her from LHOP. Maybe she had to make the rest the way she did to get it published.

Wow...I was shocked reading some of those excerpts too.  A bit sorry I did.  I agree with you Savannah.  I didn't read much of Melissa Gilbert's book either, skimmed through it and didn't bother to even check it out at the library.  Too much information is personally not truly appealing to me in a memoir.  Have skimmed through most of the books by some of the cast out there and out of the ones I've looked at, Melissa Anderson's was pretty respectful and divulged things without going over the top.  I like behind the scenes anecdotes, but ones that are overly revealing/detailed about the negative side of an actor's/actress's life turn me off.
