PostSubject: Dean Butler Interview   Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:59 am

Hello all,

I got the chance to interview Dean Butler last night and I can't even begin to express how thrilled I was to be speaking with a man whose work I've admired since I was kid. áI'm still on Cloud 9 over the whole experience. áWe discussed many things about his career, the new documentary Almanzo Wilder: áLife Before Laura that should be available for sale from the Wilder Homestead's website at the end of the month, and new Laura related projects he's working on.

One thing that I want to be sure to pass along right away is Dean's tremendous gratitude to all the fans for their support and love of Laura and her legacy. áHe's very passionate about what he's doing; it's obvious in the way he speaks about it, and he talked a bit about visiting the homestead sites and meeting fans at reunions and the overwhelming amount of love everyone has for Laura, her books and the shows inspired by them. áHe finds it very gratifying that he's been a part of that and he truly appreciates all of us.

I'll let you know when I post the interview at my blog.

Thanks. á

Cheryl

Thanks ladies. It was a fun time; something that will also help me remember that LHOP debut on September 11, 1974.

Did you record the whole conversation, Cheryl? Or just take notes?

I recorded it, but the digital video recorder I bought to interview Kent McCray doesn't automatically download to my PC- banghead - so I have to listen to it, stop it, then type, and repeat that for an 1.5 hour conversation. Worst part is, I thought the darn thing had fast-forward and rewind buttons, but it doesn't. So, if I miss anything, I have to go back to the beginning and listen to the whole interview all over again. banghead banghead

How exciting, Cheryl!

Thanks for all the labor you're putting into the transcription. (Is that a real word?)

Well at least this way you'll have the interview perfectly proof read!

It's a labor of love, so I guess I can put some effort into it. But ah, Rhonda, you can keep that old machine of yours. It sounds too much like a sewing machine and I sure don't want to learn how to use one of those. Laughing

I can sew on buttons and fix tears, but even though I bought a sewing machine years ago I still haven't been able to figure out how to use it.

On a side note, I'm typing up Dean's interview and I'm thrilled with how the conversation went and all the information Dean provided. He's truly amazing and his personality and total admiration for Michael and the show shine through with everything he does. I hope I can capture some of that in the interview.

Well, I'm pretty good at that. Of course, my husband might think differently. :shh3:
