PostSubject: Anne of Green Gables   Wed Jul 25, 2007 4:29 pm

Hello!

I made a search and I couldn´t find any topic where you could discuss AoGG. There were topics about a Anne-site and an audition. But I wanted to create a thread for everyone who likes or dislikes Anne...

Guess it´s no point in me saying that I love Anne (and Gilbert Wink)

You'll find many kindred spirits here. There are a lot of us who love Anne. I watched it so much when I was in my early teens, that I had it memorized - word for word. I still use catch-phrases from the Anne books and movies. grinsmiley My friends are used to it now.

That's right... another Anne fan here Cheer
Savannah, I also use catch phrases from the series... for example .. when I think someone is doing something crazy I say.... "Goodness, you have more nerve than a fox in a hen house"... then they look at me like I've grown a 2nd head... so I say... "I mean to say, you're crazy!" Laughing

I love the term "kindred spirits". I've found many more than I thought I ever would. Especially right here!

Sometimes, when someone asks me "What are you doing?" - when it's perfectly obvious what I'm doing, I'll reply "Fishing for lake trout". (Only with good friends or family, though. They'd know I'm only teasing) And I've found myself actually using Rachel Lynde's "That's what!". :Hahaha: There are more.....lol. But I haven't yet smashed a slate over anyone's head. I have wanted to........but I lacked a slate board. grinsmiley

I love the movies and I love the books. I think I just about wore out my VHS tapes so my hubby got me all three movies on DVD.

Just remember, "I don't want sunbursts or marble halls. I just want...you." [Huge sigh]

Oh I know every line by heart... but unfortunately I can´t quote them in everyday life.. It would sound stupid if I aswered someone back in English grinsmiley and I can´t even say what the subtitles are because I don´t read it anymore since I know every line.. hehe

I love Rachel Lynde´s "that´s what"... she says it so incredibly well that you cannot help but love her

I don´t want to see the new "Anne´s" noone can be Anne after Megan Follows and noone should try to be.. It will never be the same... Maybe I´ll just check the new production just to love 1985 and 1987 versions anymore

I know what you mean Krissy... too bad there is no time machine in which Megan can step into and turn back time so she could do the movie lol

About catch phrases... there were several from the Anne books as well... I tend to use Susan's "Just like a man"... or 'Man-like'... (LOL) whenever I need to... :haha:

"I can't stop thinking of her as a little girl and bewildered I was trying to manage her."

"Miss Spencer made a lucky mistake, I guess."

"It wasn't luck; it was providence. He knew we needed her."

I think that's how the conversation went b/w Matthew and Marilla as Anne left on the train for Queens.

::sob:: I love that part. It really shows how important Anne is to both of them... I love that Marilla is the one who admits that they needed her.

I went to the Avonlea Convention in Toronto today and met 3 of the cast members, the score composer and a LMM researcher/writer. It was an amazing day. I met the actors who played Constable Jeffries, Simon Tremayne and Gus Pike!!! James is definately a comedian, so funny. Ian is a sweet man and Michael is definately a cutie!!!
Photobucket is having issues at the moment. When it comes back online, I'll share pics!!

Marilyn........I meant to ask you earlier, but every time I get online, I get interrupted, and have to get back offline again! Did Ian Clark have the same accent as he had in Avonlea? Or was his Avonlea accent specifically for Avonlea? I loved the banter between him and Hetty King. :Hahaha: They were so fun to watch argue! (Of course.....I would never argue in such a manner! *Savannah dons her halo* batEyes )

The music to Anne of Green Gables was so gorgeous, wasn't it! I bought the sheet music to it when I was 14 or so, and played it SOOOO often. I took chord progressions, and patterns from that music and put it in with other songs when I was putting together arrangements. Yeah......I was pretty obsessed. lol *sigh* The Anne music was so beautiful!

Savannah, was the music written specifically for the show, or was it around for a long time before? Do you know the name of the composer? I'd like to find it online and listen to it. :headphone:
