Wow, I've looked through the search and am surprised that no one has ever talked about these stories.

Adventures in Oddysey has been broadcast for almost 25 years and I have kinda just discovered these wonderful Christian radio shows for children. I remember my brothers kids listened to them 15 years ago but I pain no attention to what they were listening to. Now my other brother's children are listening and I'm now addicted.

I Love Whit. I think he's my favourite character.

I haven't heard many episodes and so I don't know much about the whole story. What can you all tell me about it?
I would love to hear what anyone has to say.

In the late 80's I worked at a radio station that played these shows. That was my job as a part-timer on the weekend, to swap out tapes and play them on the air and this was one of the programs. Fantastic show, although I haven't listened to it in a long time. My 14 year old daughter has some Oddysey CD's and she used to play them all the time but has since outgrown them.

Trivia: Whit was played by "Otis" Hal Smith until his death:

Great shows all around, good fun. My favorite were the time travelling episodes. There's probably hundreds and hundreds of episodes. It started in 1987. Dave Madden (Rueben Kincaid on Partridge Family) was also a character on the show for many years.

There is also an Oddysey cartoon but I don't know if it still comes on.
You can learn more about it here:

Whit's End

I heard another great "older audience" radio show called "Just South Of Normal". It was fantastic as well and geared towards teens. However, I do not think it lasted very long at all. I only heard a couple of episodes and then it disappeared and this may have been around 2002 or so when I heard it so it was quite some time ago.

That reminds me, there was another great Christian Radio show called "Ranger Bill". It sounds pretty old, I am guessing the 1950's. Ranger Bill took place in Alaska, I think. That is also a nice program to listen to but I suspect today's kids would not be interested. You can check out episodes of that show on line for free here:

I heard Ranger Bill on the same station that played Just South Of Normal. Later they changed from the talk format to CCM and stopped playing programs of any kind, just all music so I do not know if Ranger Bill is still on the air or not.

"Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?"
"I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."

I found some cd's at my church yesterday and so now I am enjoying them instead of watching tv. I also go to Whit's End and listen to an episode every day. They recently started at the beginning so it's good to hear them. I love the stories and the lessons. They aren't just for kids, I need those lessons too.

Here is one of the cartoon (personally I do knot like them as much as the audio adventures but they are still pretty good).

And, if you have a smart TV you can just stream in on our TV (that is what we do when watching YouTube videos.
