| Do you remember the Noah's Ark cross stitch picture that Rachel finished this year? I had posted a picture of it in late March or early April. It took her three years to finish, and I entered it in the fair for her last week. The judging was finally finished, and I went down, and saw that she took first place, a Junior Grand Champion standing AND a Gold State Fair Ribbon!! :idance: (That means that she qualifies to enter her work in next year's State Fair for competition)
THEN........
A few feet away from Rachel's Noah's Ark picture stood MY Lighthouse picture, which took me five years to finish. IT took first place, Grand Champion, and a Gold State Fair Ribbon!! 
Y'all can be very glad that you weren't standing near me when I found out that BOTH of us had placed in almost the same standing! You'd probably have walked the other way, pretending that you didn't know that strange lady...... LOL . . . I was jumping up and down, squealing to "We BOTH won Grand Champion??!"  (Yeah......dignity went straight out the window about then)
Rachel is at Bible Camp, so she doesn't know yet. But it sure brings back lots of wonderful memories of the two of us stitching together. I can't wait til she finds out!! (Just don't tell her that I told you all first!) | |

| Thank you, everyone!! And thank you, Rhonda, for posting the pictures! I was so excited about it........I'm pretty sure the pigs over in the 4-H building probably thought that they could hear a distant cousin, squealing in a different dialect. :Hahaha: I love smalltown fairs. There's almost always the same bunch of people who see each other only at that time of the year. Ladies from all over the county who've come to enter their needlework, and count each other as old friends, even though they only see one another twice a year: Once to drop off their needlework - and once to pick it up again. And there's the one elderly gentleman who took up needlework after his wife passed away, and has entered his handiwork every year since. . . . And the "Drill Sergeant" who took over running the needlework department from her Mother 30 years ago, calling out her well-known warning to anyone DARING to step too near the displays "LOOK but DON'T touch!". Our fair has been running for well over 100 years, and I hope it continues for 100 more.  | |
