| David Birney, who starred with his future wife Meredith Baxter on the CBS sitcom Bridget Loves Bernie, a ratings hit that nonetheless was canceled after one season, has died. He was 83. Birney died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at his home in Santa Monica after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The New York Times previously reported the news of David Birney’s death citing Michele Roberge, who said she was his life partner. Birney was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2017. | I remember watching Bridget Loves Bernie. I just read its Wiki page, and didn't realize it lasted only one season, or that there was so much controversy attached to it. | |
