Sarah Cain by Beverly Lewis airing on tv 8/19/07

I didn't see a topic for this, but if there is, just point me in the right direction!

The Redemption of Sarah Cain by Beverly Lewis airs tomorrow on Lifetime at six eastern time. You'll want to check your local listings to double check the time. :)

It's directed by Michael Landon Jr. The movie title is "Saving Sarah Cain".

From the review I read it sounds different from the book. :(

Anyway, I thought I'd let you guys know in case any of you are fans of her books or would watch it because it's directed by Michael Landon Jr. :)

Danielle Chuchran who played Mary Ingalls in the ABC Disney LH mini-series and Tess Harper who played the older Laura and narrated both Beyond the Prairie movies will be in this movie.

Differences:
Book: Sarah was a realator, in the movie she's a journalist.
Book: Sarah stays in Lancaster with the kids. In the movie she takes the kids back with her to Portland.
Book: Ivy (Sarah's sister) left a will. In the move, she didn't leave a will, or at least that Sarah can find.
Book: Ivy and Sarah couldn't get along. Sarah wasn't too close to her parents. In the movie Sarah says that her parents were 'angry' and she and Ivy went to a large home where twenty kids with similar parents lived there. She and her sister were really close.


The movie was good. I didn't like the beginning. I didn't like Lisa Pepper's (Sarah) acting at the beginning, but as the movie went on I liked it better.
The kids are enrolled in public school and some interesting things happen. We never see Lyddie there, and I'm assuming it's because she had finished the eighth grade.
Sarah's been suffering from writers block and begins to write about the kids and tells them she'll only write two columns, but she lies and writes more than that. She respects the kids's privacy and doesn't tell anyone where they're going to school or where they live.
(I'm trying not to give too much away!)
Something happens that causes Sarah to rethink the situation and she decides to take the children back to Lancaster.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I was disappointed with the changes. I thought that the casting was really good. Hannah and Josiah are really cute.

Thanks for filling us in! I always watch movies-based-on-books (especially a book that I really liked) with a bit of reluctance. There are almost always changes that I don't like. (Hair color is a big thing for me. If the character in the book had auburn hair, for pity sake DYE the actor's hair auburn! Otherwise it seems like an imposter to me) Some changes are big, while others I can overlook pretty easily. But a lot of times, the movie just doesn't live up to the book.

(Speaking of hair color.........did they have the right color hair for Sarah?)

Yup, Sarah's hair was blonde!

I'm a stickler for having the hair color correct too.
