PostSubject: Hosting a blog   Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:00 pm

I'm not sure if I will.......but several friends have asked me to start a blog. I don't have a very interesting life, Huh? so I'm not sure why they'd want me to......Maybe it would make their lives seem even more interesting when compared to mine. :Hahaha: But, if I decide to start one.....where would I start?

Well, I know my boys belong to MySpace and Facebook and blog there frequently. As far as blogging a daily journal, that would be up to you. Cheryl has her own blog and I think Carol does too. I don't think I would have time to do something like that, and not sure I would want everyone on the world wide web to know everything about me. grinsmiley

I'm sure I wouldn't have the time for a daily blog. And I'm sure that nobody would find it interesting enough to read. :Hahaha: Life is pretty old fashioned and quiet here......most of the time.

I forgot that Carol & Cheryl have blogs. I'll have to google, and see what's available. A once a week update might work. But I may just stick with being blogless. grinsmiley

You would be surprised at how easy and fun having a blog is...of course maybe that's just because I like to hear myself talk. :haha:

I stay away from MySpace and Yahoo 360 because you seem to attract some strange readers, but I know many authors who use MySpace because they can reach so many people. I use Blogger, which is a Google product. You go to www.blogger.com and signup. Then you choose a template and start posting away.

You can write about anything and everything, but it does help to have some type of theme. You could talk about your music, your performances, your life caring for your brother's children--whatever you think readers can relate to.

A lot of people--me included--think they have boring lives that no one wants to know about, but people are encouraged when they read new ideas on how to work through a problem they have been having. They like to know that they aren't the only ones going through certain situations. And it's a heck of a lot cheaper than therapy, which is why I started my blog. :haha:

I registered for a blog. My theme is going to be around Survivor. I will post my thoughts on each episode.

My friend Coby from Survivor Palau blogs about Survivor and it's pretty popular. You might be surpised Savannah! I say got for it! Thumbsup

I opened one at Blogger.com... have only made one entry all this time LOL
I lost my password though, so I have to request it so I can update it. lol

I did it just sort of to have a diary of some of the things I experience...
I used to have a diary when I was younger... so it's neat to have one online. I think you can also set your settings so that only friends can view your journal....

But you only share what you want to. That's the key. You don't have to tell them about your crazy family or about the time you did something at the age of 18 that you have regretted since then. But things that are important to you that you feel others can relate to--and that you are willing to share--help people feel connected to one another.

And there are so many blogs out there, that the chances of someone stumbling upon yours if you haven't listed it in a search engine seems very low.

But, hey, blogging isn't for everyone. I use it to generate interest in my writing career. It's done a world of good for me.

And can't you make live journal private, so that it is viewed only by you?

Yes that's right. You can set it so that only YOU can read it... OR... only friends you allow. Or you can go public...
I like LiveJournal because it has a lot of neat features. Thumbsup

You can join communities of people that have similar interests as you and I love some of their journals...

For example this is a community interested in Nature
http://community.livejournal.com/landscape/

Here is a journal of a bookworm grinsmiley
http://sleepysmile.livejournal.com/

I'll post mine when I have updated it. Wave

I haven't yet. But I'm pretty slow about stuff like that. There are so many projects that I'm working on already - plus a story that I'd really like to finally start........if I add one more thing, it's just not going to get done.

Gee Savannah, sounds like by the time you get around to hosting a blog, we will all be old and gray..........then we won't remember what we had read. Huh? :Hahaha:
