| Yes - and it was one of the few books of hers that I didn't like. Instead of coming across as the insecure girl who felt herself in the shadow of her sister's beauty, Berta came across to me as self-centered, rude and petulant - from childhood on up. I was a teen when I read it, and was surprised that her parents didn't really seem to do much to address her attitude. A lot of my friends really liked it, though. And, it could be that if I had read it at a different time, I may have seen it in a different light. But I remember disliking it very much.

I agree The Bluebird and The Sparrow was not one of my favorites. As I remember, it was one of the slowest books to "get to the point" that I had ever read. I was also a teen when I read it, and maybe I was just impatient. I DOES take awhile for some to WANT to come to the Lord and change their ways. SO --maybe I was just thinking it should be easier.
