PostSubject: Almost finished.   Sat Oct 27, 2007 10:23 pm

A couple of months ago, in an obvious moment of utter insanity, I joined a quilt block exchange. (What was I thinking??) I really haven't done much quilting, but it's with friends. We're all doing our best - but nobody expects perfection. (Good thing!) The quilt blocks are all themed to a favorite series of books that we loved when we were little girls. (The Trixie Belden books) And I'm finally almost finished with my blocks! One of the things that I liked a lot about the books was that they had a lot of horses in them. SO........my quilt block is a horse. Not a very complicated square - but a lot more difficult than any I've ever done.

I had to make sixteen of them, and so far, they all look like a horse to ME. However..........my littlest nephew thought it was a giraffe, and wanted to know if he could add it to his zoo. :Hahaha:

I love it, Savannah! I didn't know how to quilt, so obviously I consider you a genius in this art!

And don't worry. It IS a horse. Only that with a long, long neck! grinsmiley

I like your horse! It all sounds like fun Savannah! I've been to a couple of quilting bees before. One of them was for my daughter in law! I loved it!

It looks beautiful, Savannah! I really think you did a wonderful job.

I have never heard of the Trixie Beldon books, but Kelsey loves horses. I should look into them and see if I can get her any.

Thank you! I only have three more to go, and had planned on making one more tonight. But I went to church this morning, then went to a local convalescent/retirement home and played the piano for the residents for quite a while, and by the time I got home from evening service tonight, all I wanted to do was rest. LOL So, no more horses or giraffes tonight. grinsmiley

Thank you, Amy! It's made with ultrasuede for the horse's body, and his mane is made with a crushed-velvet type of material . . . . but it's all washable. Then his eye is embroidered on. I was hoping to paint on a realistic looking eye, but I couldn't find any fabric paint here in town. (Small town!) At any rate........just one more block to go and I'm done!
