| Another great episode. The balloon guy was creepy, Bandit even had a little story going on. The donkey ride contest was so funny with Charles and Nels.
I love having off..I get to catch up on the LHOTP shows. |

| I like this episode as well but I thought it was rather rude for Mary to keep going off with the balloon man leaving the other boy alone... Kinda out of character for Mary I thought... |

| It's not one of my favorite episodes. I agree too that Mary is out of character.

| I laughed a certain parts of the epie: Nellie dunked in the water, the donkey contest, the man who was robbing people with a perfect innocent face...But I must agree that Mary was not in her character at all and seemed a snobbish girl, a thing she never was. As for Carrie...poor thing! She is always acting like a baby! Vanesa. |

| She did eventually realize that this guy was a jerk. I hope she was a little ashamed of herself for being taken in so easily. I wonder why she and Patrick didn't last any longer than this episiode (and yes, I know the "real life" reason was probably that this actor only signed for a guest appearance). |

| i agree with what everyone is/was saying. Mary acted mean something she never did. i felt bad for Patrick. the balloon guy was extremely strange. Carrie was Carrie. the guy who was robbing people was funny/mean but when that lady stole the money from him it was great. lol |

| Come to think of it, I wonder why Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady) didn't reprise his role as Patrick? He originated the character in "Times of Change". I would have liked to have seen him and Melissa working together for a whole episode like they did on "The Brady Bunch. |

| I don't like how they made Mary look like a total idiot in this episode, LIKE she would actually fall for all those lines by the creepy guy. That was NOT the Mary we all know and love, sorry. And yes, Patrick was a total doll AND had the 'real' personality---he was definitely her type! It's ridiculous to me that they come up with a storyline like this, and don't think about the characteres who are playing the part! I wonder what MSA thought about it. Otherwise I thought it was a fun episode...it got us out of Walnut Grove for a bit, and who doesn't like a fair? |

| Wait a sec - so character-wise, the Patrick on the train was supposed to be the same Patrick at the fair?
I never made that connection because LH always puts characters in for one episode but implies that the characters have a backstory/history with the town & main characters.
How do you know it is supposed to be the same Patrick? I mean, it makes sense since they have same name, but I'm wondering if there was a line or something I missed that mentioned or linked it very obviously?
Cass was totally creepy. Aside from it being rude, I don't know why any girl would dump cute Patrick for weird Cass! He was so over the top! |

| No, the Patrick on the train was not supposed to be the same as the Patrick from the fair. They were two separate Patricks. |

| Doesn't it bug you when a show portrays a character so different than the way they usually act? It works when you have a character faced with real challenges who is put in an unusual situation, but falling for some creep and being so mean is not what smart, kind, good Mary would do. |

| True,It was out of character for mary. But too be honest,That's just how some teens girls today act..They have a nice "goodboy" bf.Then they fall for Bad boy type..think that's normal.
If laura would of just took her little sister her where she want to go then she would't of took off. |

| One of my favorite episodes. So funny, when Nels riding the donkey backwards. I agreed Mary was being rude to Patrick. Wasn't she suppose be with Patrick not the other guy. Other funny scene was: the man was stealing other people's wallets, watches, & etc... At the end the lady with the suitcase sits next to him on the bench. Both say hi. Puts her suitcase over his package box & just walk away. That was just classic. |

| I think they sometimes change a person's character to add some spark to the show..it doesn't always work. I think the change in Eliza Jane when she falls for the obnoxious married professor a bit of a stretch. We can all go "crazy" at times, but that was a big change in her demeanor and beliefs. |

| I personally think that the cheese slid off Eliza Jane's cracker years before this happened. I think you are thinking of the episode "A Wiser Heart" when Laura goes to college in Arizona? Eliza Jane didn't appear in "Meet Me At The Fair". |

| Yes, I am, I was just thinking any change in Mary's "goody-two-shoe" personality, doesn't come close to Eliza Jane's. I hope she finally ended up with that guy they met at the class, although she didn't deserve him the way she was acting. |
