Does it bother you when someone swears (curses)?

Sometimes it does. Some young teens/adults cuss too much.

I must admit I have a potty mouth. But I'm working on it. I say 'mandammit' and 'son of a biscuit' now instead of the more offensive alternatives.
I'm doing my best to replace the 'f' word with 'pickles' but not having much success.

I'm not a swearer. I remember a grade school teacher telling us that people swear because they can't get their point across with "real" words. I know that's not necessarily true, of course, but sometimes those things you hear as a kid make a lasting impression on you. Also, my Dad never swore, and I take after him in most things.

I won't lie and say i don't cuss either.sometimes i do with out meaning too. Like if im mad something will slip out.....

Yup, it bothers me. I find it especially bothersome when the swearing is naturally in the person's speech pattern.

Rob, I find it interesting that your teacher mentioned that swearing is for people who can't get their "real" point across as I've often said that swearing is for people who don't have a vocabulary large enough to express himself.

I dislike it when a parent swears in front of their children, either at me or not, it is just not appropriate. I really can't stand it when the parent says "How many times have I told you not to swear? I mean, HELLO!!!??? Where do you think your kid learned it from???


When I am not a teacher, I do swear from time to time.
