I'm now umbrella-less!

As I was walking to work today (from the parking lot), it was hailing and windy. Of course, the wind seemed to pick up the minute I got out of my car. I had my umbrelle up trying to protect myself from the rain/hail, when a huge gush of wind blew the umbrella inside out. I tried to turn it around to control it, when suddenly, the entire top of the umbrella detached from the handle, folded itself up, and flew across the parking lot, landing on another car. I ran over and grabbed it, luckily it didn't scratch the car and from what I can tell, nobody saw a thing...

It was really windy here today too, so I can see this happening. Why is it we want to crawl in a hole when these things happen? As if we have any control over the wind and our umbrellas.

It was really windy here today, too! The STOP signs were shaking vigorously....the traffic lights were almost horizontal. . . . it was a day to stay indoors.

ROTFL, that is one of the funniest things I ever heard. :Hahaha: Sounds like something from a movie. I am glad none saw you and it didn't mess up that car. Better hope that don't end up on AFV.

The wind wasn't confined to US. Here in Britain we had gales last night and are expecting heavy snow over the weekend. I HATE WINTER!

I have had times where the umbrella had gotten blow inside out, but not when the top completely fell off and blew away!! ROTFL

If the umbrella would've carried me away from work and someplace warm and stress-free I wouldn't have stopped it! :haha: This was definitely one of those weird moments where I had to think to myself, did that just happen? I forgot to mention this in the first post - no one saw it happen, but when I got inside the building, I was walking to my office, trying to juggling my shoulder bag, lunch bag, and the broken umbrella and the top fell off, leaving me holding the handle. I picked it up and when I straightened up, one of my co-workers was looking at me funny. I said, "It broke" and kept right on walking.
