Sixteen Candles Empty
PostSubject: Sixteen Candles   Sixteen Candles EmptySat Feb 09, 2008 10:02 pm

I just finished watching Sixteen Candles on TVLand..again! (watched it last night too). I LOVE this movie! It so takes me back to high school! I still get that giddy feeling at the end (as corny as it may be) thinking "she got the guy!". Bliss

Any other fans out there?

Aw, I love this movie!! I want the whole "John Hughes" collection...you can't go wrong with one of his movies! Especially The Breakfast Club...talk about a classic! My hubby & I watched that on tv recently, and it was all edited/chopped up...sometimes you just HAVE to have the original to 'get it', you know? Wink

Oh, and I love Long Duk Dong too!! :adore: ROFL!! Oooooooh, and the girl with the retainer trying to drink out of the water fountain!!! ROTFL Ooooooh, and the kid who yells at the dance to his parents "I want to stay with you guys!!" LOLOLOL!! There are just TOO many great moment in Sixteen Candles! Thumbsup

Amy,
LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I just laughed out loud at your reply. I haven't seen "16 Candles" in awhile, and forgot some of those memorable lines. "I want to stay with you guys!"

It so funny how old movies take you back to what you were doing or how old you were when you first saw them. I saw parts of Sixteen Candles too last week. I watched the part about how her Grandma was "noticing" how grown up she was.....remember???
Another favorite I actually rented recently was "Raising Arizona" (Nicholas Cage, and Holly Hunter.) I loved the part where Holly Hunter speeds up in her patrol car,(lights flashing!) crying saying " I"M BARREN!" This was one movie they didnt have to spend alot on on hair and make-up....Rent it...its so funny!

"Her womb was a barren rock upon which my seed could find no purchase." Or something like that. It's how any typical ex-con would phrase it. batEyes

These are some of my favorite quotes :sillySmiley:

Lumberjack: What's your last name?
Long Duk Dong: Dong.
Lumberjack: What's your first name?
Long Duk Dong: Long.
Lumberjack: What's your middle name?
Long Duk Dong: Duk.

==============

Ginny: I really love Rudy. He is totally enamored of me. I mean, I've had other men love me before, but not for six months in a row.

==============

Grandma Helen: Oh Sam, let me take a look at you. Fred, she's gotten her boobies.
Grandpa Fred: I better get my magnifying glass. Ha Ha Ha.
Grandma Helen: Oh, and they are so PERKY.
[reaches to cup them]
Grandma Helen: [cut to:]
Samantha: I can't believe my grandmother actually felt me up.

=============

[Caroline is very drunk]
Caroline: Who's he?
Jake: That's me.
Caroline: Who are you?
Jake: I'm him.
Caroline: Oh, ok.

=============

The Geek: I mean, not many girls in contemporary American society today would give their underwear to help a geek like me.

LOL, Carol!! And then there is the scene in the car where Anthony Michael Hall eats what he thinks is a vitamin or piece of candy, and Caroline laughs and says, "Now we're both on the pill!"
