Some days it doesn't pay to leave the house. LOL

I got home this evening, and was surprised to see that Opie wasn't at the front door waiting to greet me. He almost ALWAYS is right there, on the back of one of the chairs, with a big smile on his face. But he wasn't there. . . and I quickly discovered that my dog had gotten into the trash. (She's usually very well behaved, but she had torn it all OVER the place.) Then, I heard my Mom call for me to "Come quick!!". So, I came quick! In the kitchen, with his foot stuck on the top of the curtain, was our little parakeet, who is NOT supposed to be out. And just below, ready to pounce, was OPIE! (So THAT explains why he wasn't at the door to greet me! OhMy ) I don't know whether the bird figured a way out of the cage, or whether Opie's assistance was required, but I DO know that the bird was quite willing for me to catch him. He climbed right onto my hand, and let me put him back into his cage with no fuss at all.
What an exciting evening at the zoo. grinsmiley

Whew! I am so relieved that you rescued your bird right in the nick of time!

And my daughter wonders why I won't let her get a hamster. I'm sure my cat would love "her" new "toy", just a little too much.

LOL! Lily, when I got up this morning, one of the first things I did was to see if he was still breathing. :Hahaha:

I'm glad your little bird is o.k. Sounds as if he was on his last leg and you got there just in time.

Maybe Opie watched you open the cage and learned how to free a playmate or a lunchdate. :shifty:
