Election Results

According to cnn.com, Barack Obama leads John McCain in electoral votes, 207 to 95. A total of 270 electoral votes are needed to win.

Other projections give McCain as many as 135 at present.

A McCain aide was quoted as saying "it will take a miracle" for McCain to win.

CNN now says the halftime score is:

Obama 207
McCain 135

...with 270 votes needed for the win.

I voted for McCain, but I can't help but be moved by Obama's win. This certainly is a monumental moment and it is wonderful to see our nation so fired up. I decided that whoever won, we're going in the right direction and bring on the change! I'm trying to stay up for his speech, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it! :sleep:

I haven't been this miserable since Clinton got elected. I would move to another country, but this is still the best one so I guess I'll just suck it up for the next 4 years. I bet the financial crises played a big role in this election.

I know Cheryl....it's tough but I guess I never had my heart set on winning so I prepared myself for Obama as my president. Not much we can do about it now...I have to hope for a brighter future and pray that Obama is going to forge the way for us.

Same here....let's see what the next four years hold and hopefully all these wonderful promises Obama made will come to pass..doubt it, but we'll see...

Yeah, I know. After the financial crisis happened, McCain's chances slimmed even further. It is actually Sarah Palin who looked more upset during McCain's concession speech than he. Hopefully this gives the Republicans a wake up call--like the one that was delivered to the Democracts in the 90's when they lost control of Congress--and they fair better in 2012.

I think George W has been absent the last four years and all this craziness going on set the course for John McCain from the beginning. Like I said, we'll see what uptopian promises this new President makes and we'll go from there...

Personally I think we would have faired much better with Romney, a younger guy, more 'in touch' than McCain, and a good articulate speaker. Any way you slice it Repubs were without a prayer though. I'll admit I'm scared. I just hope Obama is ready for this.

I voted for John McCain, but I like Obama. If a Democrat was to become President, I was hoping for ANYONE, but Hilary. For the past 20 years, it's either been a Bush or a Clinton in the White House. They all talk about wanting "change." Well, this election is giving us just that. I think we've had enough of the Bush's and the Clinton's.
A few weeks ago, Dennis Miller was on Jay Leno. At the end of his interview, he said something that I will always remember. He's a big supporter of McCain. He said, "John McCain gave us 5 1/2 years, I can give him 4 back." (He was of course talking about his time as a POW.) I just loved that quote. John McCain is an American hero, and would have made a wonderful President. No one knows foreign policy as well as him. I wish Obama the best. He seems like a genuine person, and a great family man. It would be awesome if he appointed McCain to his cabinet. We'll see.................

While I would have rathered McCain won for alot of reasons, I am praying that Obama will do a good job. They're is no use in hating him for the next 4 years. I'm worried about alot of it though. Thankfully God is in control and he'll work things out in a way that we might not think is right now but will all work out in the end.

that is how i am feeling. i told my friend that i was going to move to Canada and go to high school with sidney crosby's sister but my parents said that they aren't going to let me move. well i hope that i stay safe and do not get bombed. that was my prayer request in school today.

God is in control and he will not let Obama do anything that he does not want him to do. i still am nervous cause this effects my future a whooooolllleee lot

How did the Senate race turn out? Obama's winning has been the focus every time I have the news on. Hopefully the Democrats did not get the 60 seats they were wanting.

In the Senate race, the Republicans acquired 40 seats, and the Democrats acquired 56. There are still 4 seats that are undecided, but the Republicans are leading in each of them. So, it could be 56 to 44. We'll see.

Being we don't know the mind of God, I cannot say that this would be what He wanted.....it was allowed to happen and it happened by the people. God gave us all the ability to choose what we want and not be robots, and this is what they chose. It will be interesting to see what happens......Obama may have gone out too far on that limb and might hang himself.......He really is inexperienced with what requirements there are for a President................

It is especially scary knowing that I have a son in the military.....Not real sure what will happen when you put a man in charge of the nations military and he hasn't a clue what to do with them.....

Yes, even biblically, nations sometimes chose to do things that were against God's will - but He allowed it to happen, because He gave us free will. They paid the consequences for their choices, though.

yes like when the people wanted a king and God chose Saul but you realize that they would have been spared a lot of hard things if they would have listened to God's will. Sometimes it takes something like this or another crisis to draw us closer to Him.

My husband and I stayed up last night to hear Obama's acceptance speech. Towards the end, he said, and I quote: "And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too." I do have alot of respect for him, and he has my support as our new President. He may not have been my first choice, but he deserves to be given a chance. We kind of need to break through the barrier of Republican/Democrat, and come together as a country.........as one. Because I am an American citizen, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else................
