I've been spending a lot of time clearing brush from my backyard this week. Last year, I really didn't do much brush clearing, because I was still in shock, and at this time of the year, I wasn't even eating, let alone caring what the back yard looked like. SO, this year, there was more than usual to do. The neighbor's Rose of Sharon bushes have swarmed into the back, and we had two-year-old saplings growing where they definitely shouldn't be.........

Well, this morning, I was trying to dig out a particularly large sapling (about six feet tall) and was wrestling that stupid thing while I tried to dig it out. I pulled it waaaaaaaaay back to try and dig it out better - and that wretched thing slipped from my hands, came flying back up and slapped me across the face! OhMy

Who'd have thought that a tree could be such a brute?? I have a feeling that he felt that he was defending himself against my attack. Well, bucko......he paid for THAT. grinsmiley

The sapling is now chipper-fodder.

Larry, you just remember this story the next time you tell me to lean into my monitor. batEyes

Reminds me back a few years ago when I was clearing out weeds, brush & limbs out of our back yard. I was using a pair of trimmers that I was tackling a particularly big branch with.

Stupid me; I had one end in my hands and the other end against the side of my chest. I was going at it and felt a pop.

Needless to say, it hurt to breathe too deeply, cough or laugh for a week or so. I think I cracked something. I hope your face O.K. grinsmiley

I'm glad you showed that tree who's in charge by finally getting it chopped, after how it attacked you! I hope your face is okay now and the tree didn't hurt it too badly.
