I guess I've been living in a rabbit hole, I didn't know you could really buy it. We can all smell like Miss Beadle. :)

I have always wondered if you could buy it and use it as "perfume" I would love to smell it.

Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

I think that was the point then, nice but affordable since many wore it. The French perfume they would pick up on occasion was more pricey.

Lemon verbena leaves are used to add a lemony flavor to fish and poultry dishes, vegetable marinades, salad dressings, jams, puddings, greek yogurt and beverages. It also is used to make herbal teas, or added to standard tea in place of actual lemon (as is common with Moroccan tea). It can also be used to make a sorbet. In addition, it has anti-Candida albicans activity. In European Union, Verbena essential oils (Lippia citriodora Kunth.) and derivatives other than absolute are prohibited when used as a fragrance ingredient.

Aloysia citrodora is a species of flowering plant in the verbena family, Verbenaceae, that is native to Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru. Common names include Lemon Verbena and Lemon Beebrush. It was brought to Europe by the Spanish and the Portuguese in the 17th century.

Ha! I read this as "anti-Canada albicans." Those albicans have always had it in for North Americans.

Not to worry, Barney smuggled it in successfully! Like Laura, it was his favorite!

The cosmetics line, Loccitane make a lemon verbena fragrance, moisturizer, body wash, etc. The hand cream is $12 - so it's not super cheap, but not too expensive either.

My hubby got me some of these products for my birthday - and the lemon verbena was wonderful.

Interestingly though, the real LIW never mentioned lemon verbena in Pioneer Girl or the books.
