well i got a cell phone today. my mom and dad were getting upgrades, and so i asked them if i could have my dad's old phone and i have to pay for my own bill but other than that i'm good. just thought i would tell ya'll Love

yah. it doesn't cost to call verizon which is what i have, so if i call ppl with that then i do use minutes.

ohh... for along time my mom said that i was too young. it only cost $10 more a month to get another line and they didn't charge us to use my dad's old phone. so i am working for my family members so i can get like $20 a month. its only like 10 but then you have extra fees or whatever and i want to get testing but that it like $5 or $10 extra

That's what I do too. I'm pretty sure it's the same way with texting, to text other Verizon members. Congrats on getting the phone, that's exciting!

Yep, we just upgraded too. Well, I have my same phone, but the hubby got a new one so that our son could get his old one. We had a 'pay as you go' plan/phone for our son and they were completely rippping him off, so we are just doing the monthly plan now. He has to pay for it though. My younger son wants one (he's 13) but we see no reason for it. We told him once he gets in high school he can have one (there's more they're involved with in high school and more pick-ups I have to do from the school, so communication is helpful), but he IS making his own money now (lawn-mowing and babysitting), so if he really wants to get one then we'll let him. LOL, I'm betting the money will go toward video games instead though! Wink

That's great that you have a phone but try to only use it when you really need to.

I really only use my cell phone when I really need to because they are good to have in those cases... and mostly use the speaker...

Wow...scary stuff, huh Carol? I think they're pretty scary of all of us, but I can't see myself giving mine up, either. I don't use mine much though. My hubby & son both do more texting than anything else, too.

That is scary stuff. Jim and I use our cell phones all the time. We no longer have a land line. The connection was terrible. My oldest Zachary has a cell phone too. He does alot of texting on it.

If you do, maybe getting an earpiece for it would be good.... also using the speakerphone when you can. Thumbsup

Congrats on getting your phone! Personally, I fought having to get a cell phone until I was forced to get one for work-related purposes. Although I recognize the positive side of having one... I still hate the idea of being accessible 24/7.

Wow! I had no idea that charging the phone created even more radiation. It definitely is some scary stuff.

Mine is kind of my "security blanket" if you will. I get lost fairly easily (okay, fairly regularly LOL), so I like to have my phone with me if I'm going someplace new so if I get lost, I can call for directions. I also feel better having it around in case I needed to call someone for help, if my car were to break down, or I slipped on ice or something like that. At my job, they wanted to put a device in the building that would block cell phone signals (too many people using their phones when they're not supposed to, hiding in the bathroom with them, etc), but it's illegal to do that just for safety purposes, in case someone were to get hurt or need help somewhere in the building and needed to call for help. I actually was pretty angry when I found out about that, but that's a whole other story.
