Imminent Surgery

Hi everyone. I wonder if you would all say a wee prayer for me. I was up at the hospital 2 weeks ago to have my thyroid checked. I have a bit of a bump on my neck and after doing a few needle checks the consultant rang and asked me to come up last Thursday (not a good sign, I immediately thought.) It turns out I have a small cancerous tumour in the gland and have to have my thyroid removed, which should be within the next 5 - 6 weeks, but the sooner the better. It is a bit of a worry but I'm trying to take on board what the consultant told me and keep things in perspective. As all your prayers seem to be of great help to everyone else here at the prairie, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers too.

I had a chiropractor who told me once that the bible says, "Do no fear" or any aquivilant to it, 366 times. He said that that means there is one for every day of the year including leap year. Don't be afraid, God is in control and you have a houseload of friends here praying for you!

Thank you all. You are a lovely group and it means so much to know that you are all thinking and praying for me. I won't be going in to hospital for a few weeks yet. I'm just waiting to hear. Maybe I'm a bit naive but I'm not overly afraid. Whatever will be will be and God knows, it could have been a lot worse.

Thank you Rhonda for letting me know of those who have come through the same thing and are doing well. You are a true inspiration to me because what you've come through is a lot worse.

Meanwhile I'm keeping busy, still working out at the gym and working 3 nights a week.

It's funny how things turn out sometimes! I may not personally answer all the prayer requests here at the board but every Saturday at Mass I always say a prayer 'for all at the prairie board who need help'. How ironic that I'm now asking for your prayers.

The ward where I'll be treated is booked up until then, Alice. I have to go on 3rd June for a pre-op check and it should be a couple of weeks after that when I have my surgery. Thanks again for all your prayers and know you're all included in mine.

Hi everyone and thanks again for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Was at hospital on Tuesday for what was a pre-op assessment. It was basically just giving a condensed version of my medical history, blood pressure checked, blood taken, a chest x-ray and a vocal chord check as the surgery is pretty close to them. It's just a matter of waiting now for the letter or phone-call to go in for the op. I'm keeping busy though and not thinking about it too much. I'm always telling my husband there's no point in worrying about something that's out of our control so I'm trying to practice what I preach!
