I know we have a lot of I Love Lucy fans here.  Amazon currently has a book by Jess Oppenheimer, the creator of the show, available FREE for Kindle users.  The offer is only good for today.  Here's the link:

Thanks, I got this one for my sister who is a big fan. She still likes "real" books for things like this but hardcover was cheap.

Bump  Happening this Sunday!

Video Snippet

Newly Colorized Episodes of “L.A. at Last!” and “Lucy and Superman”
To Be Seamlessly Combined

Special Includes Additional Footage Not Broadcast in 60 Years

I LOVE LUCY SUPERSTAR SPECIAL, a new one-hour special featuring two colorized back-to-back classic episodes of the 1950s series, will be broadcast Sunday, May 17 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The two episodes – like those presented in previous years during Christmas – are newly colorized with a vintage look, a nod to the 1950s period in which they were filmed. The main titles and end credits are seamlessly combined into one set – at the beginning and end of the hour – with no interruption between the episodes.

Included in the special is material from “L.A. at Last!” that has not been broadcast since the episode first aired on CBS 60 years ago.

The episodes star Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and Vivian Vance and William Frawley as the Ricardos’ friends and landlords, Ethel and Fred Mertz.  William Holden guest stars in “L.A. at Last!” and George Reeves, star of the “Adventures of Superman” series, reprises his role in “Lucy and Superman.”

“L.A. at Last!” finds the Ricardos and Mertzes arriving in Hollywood, where Ricky is appearing in a new motion picture. Star-struck Lucy is anxious to meet some movie stars up-close, and decides to have lunch with the Mertzes at the famed Brown Derby Restaurant, where she meets film star William Holden and causes a major mess. Ricky innocently complicates matters when he meets Holden at the studio later, and invites him home for coffee.

“L.A. at Last!” originally aired Feb. 7, 1955, and became an instant classic.  The script was nominated for an Emmy® Award.

In “Lucy and Superman,” Lucy and longtime friend and rival Caroline Appleby want to schedule their child’s birthday party on the same afternoon. Lucy finally “wins” the battle by promising that TV superhero Superman will appear at Little Ricky’s party. However, things take a hilarious turn when the “Man of Steel” has a scheduling problem and Lucy decides to replace him.

“Lucy and Superman” originally aired Jan. 14, 1957, and was an immediate hit with fans of both “I Love Lucy” and “Superman.”

“I Love Lucy” aired on CBS from Oct. 15, 1951 until June 24, 1957. It was voted “the best TV show of all time” in a 2012 viewer poll conducted by People Magazine and ABC News.

It's ironic that they've colorized the old Andy Griffiths. Most fans of the show love the earlier black & white shows, and the later ones that were in color... not so much. So I'm not sure how big of a draw the colorized older shows will be. We like the b&w! HeeHee

loveheart I love the B&W....I think it's part of the "magic" of the show. That being said, there are a lot of people who won't give B&W shows a chance simply because they aren't in color. I think it would be great if the colorizing of The Andy Griffith Show episodes would bring it to the attention of people who otherwise might not have given it a chance. It's far better than what's on TV nowadays!

yes Yes, there have been many complaints about the Lucy episodes being colorized, and now this one of TAGS....I actually saw the B&W TAGS Christmas show today on my local station that plays TAGS every day after the noon news.  I hope to be able to see the colorized version as well....that is, if I'm not on the road.....

The classic 1950s series, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, is about to get a whole lot more colorful. That's because on Friday, May 20 at 8/7c, a new one-hour superstar special will air two colorized back-to-back episodes, "Lucy Visits Grauman's" and "Lucy and John Wayne."

"Lucy Visits Grauman's": Originally aired October 3, 1955
Lucy and the Mertzes visit Hollywood’s famed Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, where Lucy discovers that the cement slab containing John Wayne’s footprints has come loose. Lucy thinks it would be a fabulous souvenir to take home, if only she can come up with a way to take it without being caught.

"Lucy and John Wayne": Originally aired October 10, 1955
Lucy must find a way to replace the pilfered footprints. Ricky tries to help by calling John Wayne, but as usual with Lucy, the seemingly simple task of replicating the footprints becomes a comedy of errors.

Lucy's hometown has now replaced the 'scary' Lucy with a new statue.  I am SO glad they did this, since it didn't represent her at all! Full article here along with photo of Artist.  New Lucy Statue

I applaud the artist that made the new one!!!  Applause
