Love this episode. I like the guy that played Olga's father, the way he said Charles' name "Ing-galls!" Yes, fighting Charles was a little too much, but I liked the way he admitted that he was a fool at the end.

This episode is very touching to me. That Nellie is so mean wanting to go wading just so Olga won't be able to be one of the "normal" kids. The fight seems a bit much to me, too, but I think Olga's dad probably thought he was doing right. I think he may be bitter over the death of Olga's mother too, and maybe that affected his judgment in things.

I was glad, Charles Ingalls made that special shoe for Olga. So funny, when Nellie falls in the creek. Then, the girls comes back from the creek. Mr. & Mrs. Ingalls trying not to laugh, in front of Nellie. ROTFL

I love the fact that someone with a leg shorter that the other. I have one shorter than the other due to my dissabilty and never did like to run around much at recess. Charles making the special shoe for Olga was awsome. This episode seemed ahead of it's time by dealing w/ somebody with a dissability! It was also nice to see a Nellie plot from the book like Counry girls.

My right leg is shorter after my car accident in '93. my right hip never grew the same length as my left leg. So, I have lift on my right shoe. So, I like the scene when Charles made the shoe lift for Olga.

I was born with a shorter right leg and arm. I think the lift shoe is the early version of orthotdics.

I loved this show but I thought they made the Dad a bit too stupid..he wanted to protect his daughter but didn't want her to at least try something to help her? Maybe he wanted her home all the time to be safe. The fist fight was a bit much, but I loved the party and funny lines.
She was one of the characters I wish would at least have been mentioned again...I noticed although Mr. Landon didn't stick to the books (not enough material) he didn't mention characters that weren't there again. Johnny Johnson, Mary's first friends...are brought up, but Abel, Gideon, Olga, etc. aren't.

I love this episode. I watched it tonight. Olga's father was a bit too protective. Charles did a good deed making an elevated shoe for Olga. I think Nellie suggested wading in the creek on purpose because she knew Olga couldn't go wading.

Sure she did! Did you notice the way nellie watched Olga's special shoe? She perfectly noticed the fact that this very show made Olga walk normally...

Vanesa.

I noticed that too, It's like she just knew now she had nothing to make of her for.

I'm guessing they were really crayfish, or "crawfish," as some people say.  They're like little freshwater lobsters.  Just about every lake and pond has them.

I wouldn't want my toes get pinch by crawfish.

This is one of my favorite episodes! This, in fact was the very first episode I watched that go me into little house in the first place! Anyway, I love how Laura befriends Olga at Nellie's party after Nellie pushes Laura and hurts her ankle. Then Laura and Mary get to have a party of their own... But not before Laura and Pa think up an idea of a way to make it so Olga could run and walk like the rest of the kids.... by adding something under her shoe on her shorter leg. But Charles gets met with cold resistance from Olga's dad and thinks he will have to give up the idea of helping Olga. But Olga's grandmother comes out and finds Charles anyway, against her son's wishes, and gives Charles Olga's shoe to work on. Then, Olga arrives at the Ingall's house early before the party to try the "new" shoe on.... I love when she walks normally for the first time! The she runs over and gives Charles a big hug. But one of the best parts is when everyone comes over for the party and Olga surprises them all when she is able to run like everyone else. But then her dad notices that all of her shoes are missing and gets really upset. He heads over to talk with Charles about it.. I don't understand why he needed to fight with Charles though. That to me seemed a bit over the top. I love the ending when Olga's dad sees her running and playing for the first time and realizes how much of a fool he has been. Olga runs over to her dad and says "See me run papa?" and "Watch me play papa!" That was great.

I also love the very end when Nellie tells Charles that the pond is dangerous because there is a big crab that almost bit her toe off. Then I love Charles face as he says "I wonder where Nellie got the idea that crab could bite her toe off..." The look on Laura's face is priceless!

Coincidentally, this was the episode shown today on True Entertainment - I really enjoyed it, felt bad for Olga.

Nellie was such a cow.

It constantly astounds me how many different things you can pick up by watching an episode over again. I never really paid attention to what Olga told Mary in this scene from Town Party, Country Party. Pretty perceptive words from a girl that age, and as usual, marvelous writing......

After Laura touch the doll's dress. It was Nellie who made a snag on her doll's dress. She snatch the doll away. She's rough on her doll.

When did Laura sprain her ankle? I saw Nellie pushing her. But, when they went outside. You see Laura limping.

I believe Laura hurt her ankle when Nellie pushed her over.
