Wow! If I didn't know better, I'd think that you'd been sketching for years! This couldn't be more perfect. It has depth, it has life. It's an amazing drawing!!

If you're this good now... well, I can't imagine the kind of work you'll be doing a few years from now.

Thank you for sharing Michael with us, Savannah. Please don't ever hesitate to show us more, more, more!

Thank you so much, Rhonda! And yes, Michael was always finding some kind of rascally mischief to get into. Every day was an adventure with the four of them. grinsmiley And I loved every minute of it!

Thank you, Christina! I'm relieved to know that it isn't grating on people's nerves for me to post the pics.

Susie, thank you so much! I had thought about doing some sketches of Little House cast members. But I always end up getting distracted. LOL!

Lily, and Rob...You both made my day! I had been reading a book that was recommended to me by an artist, and in it, the author (who was a Disney animator) asks the question "Does your drawing have weight? Depth? Life?" and I was saying to myself "I don't know! Does it??" So, THANK YOU! And a big hug to both of you!

My sentiments exactly. And again, you have managed to capture the eyes, which is what it's all about. Thumbsup I truly think you have a career ahead of you Savannah! Thanks for sharing this with us---I feel like, through your sketches and backgrounds of each of 'your children', it's as if I already know them! Love

Oh, and I love Susie's idea of drawing some Little House characters! That would be neat! Thumbsup

Love Thank you, Amy! Smiley Hug I have quite a file full of pictures that I eventually want to draw. And I'm determined to give painting a try sometime this year, even if I find out that I'm a dismal failure at it. I want to try, anyway!

I will never get tired of seeing your sketches, Savannah. I am continually amazed by your attention to detail, from the shading, to the wrkinkles in the shirt, the lifelike eyes, and even the little piece of metal poking out of the end of the handlebar. This is truly amazing, Savannah.

Thank you so much, Pam!!

Edited to add: You noticed the metal at the end of the handlebar! You wouldn't believe how hard that was for me. I was sure that I was going to end up regretting drawing anything from below Mikey's shoulders! :Hahaha:

I don't remember if I mentioned anything about this here on the board, or if I'd just been talking about it in PMs and such........But, earlier this year, I found a wonderful book at the library that gave detailed directions on how to draw portraits in pencil. I was so impressed with the book that I bought a copy for myself, and have been using it for the past few months to try to learn how to draw portraits that look relatively lifelike. So, now I've started on portraits of my precious niece and nephews. I started with Caleb, because I knew exactly what photo I'd use for reference. So, anyway..........If you want to peek at my little Golden Boy.....the best birthday present I ever got......Here's my Caleb:

Savvy, that's just one heck of a good sketching. I didn't read the whole thread cuz I ain't been here in a while, but that was a danged good piece of work. I always wished I could sketch like that, but I can't draw a stick figure and you know what it looks like. lol. Words were always what I was good with. I envy you your talent.

Maybe one day I can send you a pic and you can make a nice sketch of me. I've always wanted that.

Just make my muscles bigger. grinsmiley

Thank you, Larry! Somewhere throughout the thread, Rachel and Michael are also sneaking around. grinsmiley That's why the thread is so long.

Being good with words is quite a gift. Wish it was one of mine!

It's nice to see you stopping in. Try to come around more often, will you? Wave

I hang with a pretty rough crowd, but I always know I can come home....here...and y'all will take me in.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Okay.....I'm nervously showing you my first attempt at painting with oil pastels. It's so completely different than drawing! But I think I'm going to like it!
