Don't believe everything you read

BUT..........That doesn't mean that you shouldn't believe anything you read. I found that out again yesterday.


There's a little produce stand north of town here, and I stop there to buy fresh fruits and vegetables that are locally grown. They always sell homemade goodies, too......And, once in a while they'll sell fresh salsa. Without fail, I've tried their "hot" salsa, and been disappointed because it isn't really very hot. So, yesterday.........They had a basket of Naga Jolokia peppers, with a sign above it saying "World's Hottest Peppers! I double dog dare you to try one!"




I thought "Riiiiiiight......Just like your salsa is hot." So, I bought one, anyway, because I'd never had one before, I like peppers........and they were very inexpensive. I went home, made lunch, and sliced a very, very thin slice of the outside of the pepper (just in case! :fyi: ) and tasted it. It was tasty, but not hot. So, I took a larger bite of the whole pepper.........And THEN I found the heat, baby! :woohooo: I did some reading later that evening, and found out that these peppers are officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the hottest peppers in the world. Well, I don't know about that........But I DO know that those little babies pack a wallop!

So.....do you get anything for trying them, I mean, with a double dog dare hanging in front of you, you should get SOMETHING!!!

Yes, I appreciate the comparison, Rob.
Just so you know........I have better hair.

I really like hot foods, so I didn't mind it too much. But it isn't a pepper I'd eat by itself again. I'd use it in something. Like chili.

Maybe some of the comments about Homer also applied to you...

How funny is that, Savannah. That reminds me of once when a bunch of my friends and I went to a Japanese restaurant. They serve every dish with a scoop of wasabi on the side. Wasabi doesn't taste hot when you first put it in your mouth, you have to wait a couple of seconds and it shoots straight to your nose. (This is good to have if you have a cold with congestion ) Well, this one friend of ours didn't bother to ask what it was before he put the whole darn thing in his mouth, being that he's fair skin, his whole face turned red as tomato! The waitress kept bring him water and told him to drink drink drink. We were just dying laughing. :Hahaha: :Hahaha: :Hahaha: :Hahaha: :Hahaha: After drinking almost a pitcher of water, he was able to finally catch his breath and he said that he thought it was avocado.
