A-Hunting We Will Go

That's a cute and funny story, Savannah. I still hate to see anything killed, I would starve if I had to hunt for food.

LOL Savannah.........I guess there is a difference in 'hunting' for them and shooting them...... :think:

We have a lot of hunters here in Arkansas and when Josh, my youngest was around 2 or so, we were at this family's home where the man had 3 deer head over his fireplace.......Josh was standing there, with his hands clasped behind his back, looking at the deer head......just staring.....the man came up, knelt down, and said, "What do you think little guy?" Josh looked at him with his big ol' brown eyes and said, "Did you do that?" The guy puffed up with pride and said, "I sure did..." Josh looked down and started to shake his little head back and forth as he said, "What a shame, what a shame..." Needless to say, the puffed up chest on the man was deflated and he stood up and walked away......Josh has never been able to watch Bambi in the same way since that time.......

LOL Savannah---great story! I couldn't help but think about Laura's hunting trip with Pa...ahem, they weren't shooting squirrel though. :unsure: And Rhonda, too cute of little Josh! I daresay he had a bit of "John Jr." in him.

Great story! But I bet I know of one young lady who didn't get any squirrel a la king that night.

Well, when I was a little girl, my Dad, Grandpa, and all of my Uncles were avid hunters. They'd talk about "going hunting" and they'd get their heavy clothes ready.......Well, one year, when I was about eight, I begged to go hunting with my Dad. My Mom told me that it wasn't a good idea, but I insisted. (I should have known! Mom always knows best! ) So, we bundled up, and went out to the woods. We walked and walked for what seemed like HOURS. Finally, we spotted a BIG, beautiful, fat squirrel. I was absolutely thrilled! I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye, and when I looked over, I noticed that my Dad had pulled out a gun. I said "Daddy! What are you doing??" He whispered "Shhh, shhh." He aimed the gun at the beautiful squirrel, and I started to SOB. "Daddy!! Please don't shoot that cute little squirrel! You're not going to hurt him, are you?? Don't shoot him, Daddy!"

:Hahaha: Poor Dad. He put his gun down, and took his sobbing, nearly hysterical daughter home. On the way, he said "Honey, I don't understand why you were so upset. You knew that we were going squirrel hunting."

I answered "Yeah! But I didn't know what we were gonna do once we FOUND them!!"

Oh, savannah! I never coul or will go hunting!
I will cook up the meat, though!
All my big guys were burly boys!
They all hunted when they were still at home.
I always liked to tease them about being heartless killers, "poor little animals!" etc.
I could never kill an animal myself but I've accepted the fact that they are heartless killers.
