My friend bought this 2-season series for me for my birthday! She said it's one that any Little House or Dr. Quinn fan would enjoy. Has anyone seen it? It stars Kellie Martin and Tyne Daly. I watched the Pilot last night and one episode today. So far it looks pretty good....the scenery of the Smokies is gorgeous! The show ran from 1994-1995.

I thoroughly enjoyed that series, Amy. If you've read the book, it doesn't stay completely true to the book...But it's very enjoyable. I bought the series about a year ago, when Walmart had a big sale on it, and I had some Christmas money. grinsmiley

Oh good---I'm glad you liked it Savannah! I'm on I think the 4th or 5th episode already---LOL! It's kind of addicting! I just watched the episode where the elderly lady died at the end, singing in her bed, and her husband came to her window and held out his hand to get her. I cried so hard! That's the way I want to go, I tell ya!

I'll have to check out the books...which do you think is better, the books or the series?

Cool Jacob! Thumbsup It sounds like it's a good series---too bad it only lasted two seasons. :sad5:

It already has some Dr. Quinn similarities that I can see. Both Sully from DQ and the doctor from Christy have lost their wives and are struggling with their faith. AND they both challenge the woman they're interested in---I love that! Neither would be the character you'd necessarily 'picture' with the female lead they're falling for---the on-screen chemistry is there for both couples and I love that whole 'opposites attract' theme. Can you tell I'm all about the romance with these shows?! batEyes

There's just the one book, titled Christy, and it's by Catherine Marshall. I usually can quickly decide which is better - the book or the movie/tv series....But in this case, both were excellent. Even though the series strays from the book, it stayed true to the spirit of the book.

If you read it, the book will make you cry. I'd almost guarantee it. I remember, the first time I read it, I was reading along, and suddenly noticed that the pages had little spots on them....Then I realized that I was crying, but was so engrossed in what was happening that I hadn't even noticed it.

She does have other books out, but they aren't a series. And I wasn't impressed with her other books. But Christy was fabulous.

Wow, I guess I'll get my Kleenex ready for that one! My friend recommends it too...I'll get it from the library as soon as I'm done with the series. LOL, which isn't going to take very long at the rate I'm going!

I watched this too when it aired. I also have the book. I love Kellie Martin. It was hard to go from that "Chisty" image to "Lucy" when she was on ER. She is great in any part she takes on though.
She is married now and has a little girl named Maggie.

Yeah, Kellie Martin is good in this...I've only seen her in ER, so it's weird for me to see her here! Wink Her character reminds me of Anne of Green Gables---she's got spirit! Wink

She has some movies out that I've enjoyed, too. I wish I could find more of them. They're "Mystery Woman" movies, I think from the Hallmark channel. I borrowed one and enjoyed it a lot. Another movie she did that I liked was "Hidden in Silence". It was set during WWII, and was very good.

I remember Kellie Martin in Face on the Milk Carton. That was a really good movie. I wonder how many missing children have really seen their own faces on those milk cartons.?

Oh, and don't forget. Way back in 1989 she she was on the weekly series, "Life Goes On" with Patty LuPone and Chad Lowe! That was where I was introduced to her at.
