Is your area expecting an ice storm? I got a note from a friend of mine who lives in Arkansas, and she said that everyone in her area is preparing for power outages, etc., because of an expected ice storm. Should I add your area to my prayers, too?

Thanks for asking Savannah and thanks Lily and Susie.....Yes, by tomorrow morning, we are supposed to be having freezing rain come in, which pretty much makes for an ice storm. The last time we had something like this come through, was back in 2000 and it knocked power out all over the place......The only thing that kept us going was, we have gas to cook with, and we were able to light the stove with matches and keep pots of water on top to heat the house and to cook with. I even filled a thermos with hot water and took it down to some neighbors down the street so they could fix some formula for their new baby (They have all electric house)......It was wild, so I hope this storm doesn't do the same. Some people were without power for 3 weeks or more and were using generators....... No

The trees are heavy laden with ice and my pine trees in the back are bent to the maximum......I hope they don't snap......Just want the ice to melt and for them to stand back up.......

The roads were bad last night, but today, they are just wet.....BUT....the temps are going to dip real bad later and what is wet, will FREEZE!

Schools were cancelled......even the University, and they don't normally just shut down completely, they leave it up to each of the Professors as to whether there will be class or not.............

They are even comparing this storm to the last big one we had in 2000.... No

It is already melting, but the low temps will hit again.....not supposed to be out of here till sometime Wednesday.....in the meantime, I have power, my boys lost power at their place of employment......not sure how long they will stay there..... Huh?

We now have a light layer of snow over the ice and the temp is in the low 20º's. Several people are without power still and several more are going to shelters because of no heat. I am putting a link to one of our TV stations and you will be able to click on a live link and see what is going on in my area. Some of the temps on their map are blank, because of the power outage........ :unsure:

They were talking about how bad things are in your area, as well as in Kentucky, on the news this morning. The ice is the worst with the downed power lines and trees, just a dangerous situation. Stay safe!
