One more prayer request

Back in August, my brother Aaron lost his job. (His factory moved to Mexico.) Well, he's been putting in applications, and doing job searches, but hasn't found anything yet.......So, he found out that he's eligible for a program that would allow him to go back to college and get a degree, and he's been doing all of the paperwork and testing for that. He's been doing great on the testing. (He's SO smart!) Anyway........He was talking to the woman who has been helping him at the unemployment office, and she told him that she found out that all these months, he was supposed to have been declaring each month whether he was primarily job-searching, or going back to school. Since he hadn't been doing that, they're going to deny him the unemployment extensions, which he needs if he's going to go to college. Well, on Friday he basically has a hearing with the unemployment office to appeal the decision, since he was unaware that he was supposed to be filing the declaration papers. So if you could say a prayer that the officials would be willing to reverse the decision, I'd really appreciate it.

They really need to be clear on things like that. You will have my prayer for Aaron. Tell him to go in there with his chin up. He has the whole prairie behind him!

I'm sorry to hear of this Savannah. I had to do that for the few months I was on unemployment and I know what sticklers they can be if you don't send it in. Is there any way for him to at least identify for them where he has been applying? Maybe he won't remember all the dates, but maybe he knows the places. Perhaps that will help sway them.

He'll definitely be in my prayers.

Thanks so much for your prayers, everyone! I just got off the phone with Aaron, and he said that he won't know the outcome of the meeting until probably a week from today. But he said that the man he met with was very understanding, and admitted that it wasn't Aaron's fault, since he hadn't been made aware that he had to file these declarations. Aaron brought a file with him, showing all of the applications he's placed, both online and in person, and brought the paperwork that he's filed over the last two months for the college program, and tests he's taken, etc.....And they ruled in Aaron's favor. Thumbsup

However - there's one more hurdle. This was the state level. We found out today that there is a Federal level that has to review the case as well. I'm hoping and praying that they'll agree with this board's decision!

Thanks again for praying, and I'll update you as soon as I find out anything more.

I apologize for just seeing this now! It is good to hear that the state ruled in Aaron's favor and it sounds like Aaron has been on top of things as far as paperwork that shows that he has been actively pursuing finding a job and looking into the college program as well. As the one man told him, it wasn't his fault that he wasn't informed of the procedure. I will keep him in my prayers and hope that things work out favorably for him at the federal level as well.

One hurdle jumped and now the next one. I'll keep praying that he clears the next one and is on his way to college soon.

I just got off the phone with Aaron, and the decision has been officially reversed on all levels now! His extension is reinstated, and he starts college Monday. Praise the Lord! And thanks for your prayers! This is the first reversal that has ever been handed down in this type of case. The others have all been denied. That's the power of prayer for you!
