OMG this was one of my favorite episodes. I love when all the kids come by to help Laura and the story too. It was a really cute episode.

One of my favorites too...My heart aches when I see Laura working so hard, with her hands all raw-red, falling asleep in her classroom while she was pregnant.

Of course, I knew that Rose MUST to be born grinsmiley , but I still was afraid for the baby and for Laura herself. It was sad to see that she refused the help of her family in the fields and that she got so ill.

But the better thing of all the epie was Ma's telling "The Stone Soup" and the whole moral of it. ☮ Excellent epie. Good for the writers.

Vanesa.

Excellent episode! One of the best of the later seasons. The "stone soup" story was great, and it was a great storyline for Laura.

I liked the realism of this epsiode. I'm sure many a pregnant wife was left behind to care for the farm while her husband went off for work during that time period.

It did bother me though that Laura was several months pregnant in the Christmas episode and it was obviously summer during this episode. How long was that girl pregnant? LOL!

It seems that the writers wouldn't care about these "little details" that could make a story consistent grinsmiley . Besides, I remember quite well that Rose Wilder Lane was born in Decemer 5...so, Laura's pregnancy in Christmas seems a little bid weird to me. ROTFL

Nellie's pregnancy was kinda long too. I find Laura's and Nellie's eternal pregnancies hard to accept when I make a comparison between them and other pregnancies: for example when Caroline was waiting Freddy. She was pregnant only an epie long; it was the same for Grace...but the more amazing of all them was Laura, who gave birth to "baby Wilder"...without any pregnancy at all!!!! affraid ROTFL

I thought it was so kind of Laura's students to come out to the farm to help her!

I really liked this episode. I especially thought that Willie Oleson's character really shined! you learned things about Willie in this episode that you never expected to learn, that's one of the reasons why I liked it so much. I also thought it was nice when all the students came to help out Laura on the farm!

yes, I liked this and how Willie and the children caught on to how to apply it to the real life situation.

It reminds me of adding this story to my food/nutrition lesson plans when I taught 2ned grade and finding several versions of different picture books for this story.

BTW, can anyone tell me if the forum has a spell check feature and where if it does

Does anyone else tnink Willie undergoes a transformation in this episode? In the previous episode he makes fun of that kid Gideon for stuttering, but in this episode I think something in him shifts when he goes out of his way to help Laura. This is the first time we see this side of him. The following season when Nellie returns, she remarks on how much he's matured.

I agree. It's a quick transformation too, as he suddenly seems very grown up.
