Usually I don't watch Sunday night episodes of the Simpsons, but this past weekend I did watch the new episode and I saw that at the end. I was glad to see it. I'm glad that France is receiving support from so many different areas.

PostSubject: Tragedy At Cedar Point   Thu Aug 13, 2015 6:33 pm

At 5:00 PM EST, a man entered a restricted fence area and was struck and killed by Raptor roller coaster at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. My thought and prayers are with man's family and workers at the park. The tragedy is currently under investigation.

I read about this on facebook news....bad idea. So many thoughtless comments about a person who made a bad choice. What ever happened to people feeling badly for a person and their family?! I like your post, Shell.

I've been to this amusement park many times---it's a big deal for us Michiganders, not a far drive. I'm not a roller coaster person at all but have been on the Raptor and it's one where you are suspended---it's a fun 'easy' coaster for sure. I'm sure this was devastating for the people on the coaster too, that knew what happened while they were on it. Just terrible.

I saw a lot of thoughtless comments, too, Amy. No Yes, he made a poor decision - but a life was lost here, and people are hurting. Parents lost their son...siblings lost their brother. I don't know if he was a father, or an uncle - but he was part of a family nonetheless. And hearing (or reading) heartless comments about what happened certainly doesn't ease their pain.

No. He lost his cell phone while riding the roller coaster. So after he got off the ride, he went into a restricted area to look for his cell phone. No

Thank you, Amy. I feel sad for his family. Very sad and tragic situation. I have also read nasty comments. I have been to the park several times. It's my favorite amusement park. Blue No

He should ask one of the employees, who work there. That his cellphone fall out of his pocket. They could get his cellphone for him.

I heard about this on the news. It was such a sad story. I hadn't read any comments after articles about this incident, but I still can't believe people would write such terrible things about a man whose life was lost, no matter what his reason was for going into the restricted area.

Another cop has been shot and killed. A Chicago cop was shot and killed this morning. The manhunt is on for 3 suspects. Seems like a lot of cops have been killed lately.

Missing Child Found Safe in Ohio

I came across this story yesterday and it made me so happy. A boy who went missing in Alabama 13 years ago at age 5 was found in Ohio, and is safe. With all the horrible things that are constantly being reported in the news... I am so glad this young man is safe and sound, even if he still does have a long road ahead of him.

I was SO MAD when I read some of the replies to the news story on my local news station's site! People were posting things like, "Why is this a big deal? How could he be MISSING if he was with his FATHER?", and, "He's completely healthy, and unharmed. Why even make an issue about this??" Well, DUH!!! His mother had no idea if he was dead or alive for thirteen YEARS! For all that time she couldn't hug him, or kiss him, or hear his voice....She missed out on EVERYTHING with him! This is a HUGE deal! I don't know the specifics, and maybe the father felt that he had reason to hide with the son, but I TOTALLY get why this is a big deal.

That is really sad the father took the son away like that. Thank goodness he is still alive. The mother was cheated out watching her son grow up.
