PostSubject: Been in the Hospital   Thu May 07, 2009 2:21 pm

I was taken to the ER Monday night. I had started feeling bad Saturday night and thought it was just a stomach virus, but as it turns out, it wasn't. Jake got me to the ER at 6:30 pm and I didn't get into a room until 3:00am Tuesday morning. I had xrays, ct scans, bloodwork and every other test you can think of done, and it seems I had/have blockage of the lower bowel from my scar tissue. After having 3 abdominal surgeries, (C-Section with first son, and 2 cancer surgeries) and then zapping the same area with radiation, this caused the scar tissue to grow faster than normal. They THINK it was this scar tissue that wrapped around the bowel or tweeked it. Anyway, I am home now, and for now, dodged having yet another surgery to deal with. Please pray that this takes care of itself so I won't have to have another surgery, not sure I could handle that. Thank you to all.

Sorry to hear you have had such a tough time. You did the right thing in going to the ER though. All things will be okay. You are always in my prayers.

Oh, Rhonda, I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that. So the doctors think that it will heal on it's own? Do you have to take any medication? I pray that you feel better soon, and that your body is able to heal without having another surgery.

Oh, how awful Rhonda. I'll definitely be praying for you and that no surgery will be required.

I'm really submitting your name for Sainthood. Lord knows if anyone deserves it, it's you. grouphug

{{{Rhonda}}} I was wondering about you - I noticed on the memberlist that you hadn't been here since Monday, and that's pretty unusual for you. You were in my prayers, and now I know why! You poor dear. I'm sure glad that you're okay. Thanks SO much for checking in and letting us know what's going on.

Ack, isn't it awful waiting in the ER forever for a room?? I'll sure be praying that this issue takes care of itself so you don't have to go through another surgery.

Love,
Savannah

Trying to do better, but every time I eat, I have a slight set back, so I have to really make sure I eat slowly, chew everything to almost nothing and be patient while things settle.

One problem I do have is, my body does not like foreign objects being poked into it, and after a few days, tries to push out what was put in. After having the IV put in Monday night, by Wednesday evening, my arm was pushing it out. (Main reason I did NOT have a port put in while going thru cancer, even tho the nurses asked every time I came in for a treatment) I had mentioned it to my nurse as she was checking on me for the last time before leaving, and she said she would tell the next shift. Needless to say, they didn't do anything and by Thursday, when they took it out for me to be released, my arm was swollen and red. Now.....I have a big hard knot where the IV was at. It is still swollen and now VERY sore! I have been putting a warm washcloth on it and hoping that will help........I hate IV's! No

Sorry I missed this thread Rhonda! I'm glad you're doing better now! My poor friend had to spend part Mother's Day in the ER yesterday....her son came home Texas last week, and she just came down with the flu, so just to be on the safe side went in to be tested for the H1N1 virus. She's negative, but better safe than sorry!

Thanks Kristina.....

I had an appointment with Dr. Flippin today, my oncologist.

First of all, he was impressed with the weight loss......ME TOO! I was 20 pounds lighter since seeing him last year! OhMy

Second of all, he was concerned about the trip to the hospital and when I told him the doctor didn't check me out at all, he was a bit disappointed and did his own checking. Seems the bump/lump in my abdomen is what is called an incisional hernia. He can feel it when I am standing, but when I lie on the examining table, it slips away and he has to hunt it down and then when standing up again, it is not there. He wants me to tell the other doctor about it when I see him in June. Says the hernia could do some tweaking of the bowels on its own and with the scar tissue already doing that, it could get messy. Huh?

And finally, he was EXTREMELY glad that I am still around, said I could've "checked out" early and avoided all the pain in my life.......What a guy!!! lol :haha:
