When visiting the LIW Museum in Borr Oak last year, our tour guide took us to the LIW headquarters and book shop which is located in the town's old Savings Bank. She told us of a bank robbery that happened there in the early 1930's. The story she told what quite interesting. The bank teller and some of the people who were in the bank at the time were locked into the vault, which remains in the restored building today.
I was just googling away and found the old newspapter reports of this event at http://www.geocities.com/bprice1949/bankrob.html
The Master's Hotel is directly across the street from the bank. Although this didn't happen when Laura was there, I just thought that some of you would like to read about some of the happenings in the town where Laura once lived.
