This one was okay. I think it was wrong of the childrens uncle to try and take them away when they descided to say theire. I do understand that he want to be with them.He has ever right to do so.Glad to have had a happy ending.

Jed shouldn't have tried to take James&Cassandra away after they decided they wanted to stay with the Ingalls family. He told Charles&Caroline to let the kids decide and then he was mad and threatened to take them to court to get custody when Charles told him James&Cassandra wanted to stay with him and Caroline. I feel Jed was trying to bribe them into going with him by promising them he would buy them anything they wanted.

You must be watching these on the Hallmark channel. I've watched the same ones for the past week.

It would have been neat to see Jed just want to settle down in Walnut Grove and play an active roll in the town and the childrens lives. He was up in years so it didnt make sense for him to raise young children even though he had money to do it.

Poor kids...they really had bonded with the WHOLE Ingalls family. I'm odd but I like these episodes....I think they were well written.

I watch it once in a while on Hallmark. I mostly watch the DVDs. I am currently on season 1. I decided to have a marathon and watch my favorite episodes from each season. Season 9 is my least favorite season.

I thought if he couldn't live there, (Walnut Grove isn't for everyone) it would have been nice, with all his money, to leave them some, to give some to Charles and Caroline to raise them.
Did I miss something with that? It wouldn't have been charity, he was related and going to pass on soon.

Maybe Jed hadn't died yet? Idk, there are a lot of goofs like that on the writers part. Overall it was a good show, but they had there inconsistencies.

Great episode! I started out liking Jed, but as soon as he began talking about how he wanted to have the custody of James and Cassandra I started to not like him as much. After they made their choice to stay with the Ingalls, and he said he was going to court against them, I really began to dislike him! I must say I was shocked at what he was saying.... I never would have thought that he would go that far! He only wanted them for his own selfish reasons, he never thought about what was best for the children. I am glad everything worked out in the end, and James and Cassandra got to stay with the Ingalls. James and Cassandra understood that money couldn't buy happiness! Thumbsup

I did not love this episode, but at least Uncle Jed (reminds me of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES!) did what was right at the end. He could have insisted that James and Cassandra move with him all the way to California. And at least Carrie got some lines in this episode.

Probably one of the reasons I don't love this episode is that I never was really able to accept the adoption of James and Cassandra into the Ingalls family. I think I have resentment because Cassandra became the main Ingalls female child to be featured (in my opinion), and I think that should have gone to Carrie.

I also think it would have been great if he just settled down in Walnut Grove, except of course for the "consumption" issue....also, I thought that the judge should have considered his age. Even without "consumption," would he really live long enough until James and Cassandra would be on their own? I also wonder if he left his money to them when he died...

Seems like Uncle Jed could have offered ongoing provision of money for the children, but I don't know that Charles would be able to accept that. But if only he had and then been able to stay in Walnut Grove, that would have been far better for the family, especially for Albert.

I thought that Charles was wrong to tell the judge he had no argument with that lawyer when the lawyer seemed to be indicating that Jed's decision to fight for custody was solely based on what was best for the children. It wasn't based on that....he said himself that HE wanted the children, even when he knew they didn't want him (not if the price was giving up the family they had become a part of).

That would make sense....maybe it provided for them to even get to go to college someday (or at least James, as I'm not sure that many women were going to college yet at that time).
