PostSubject: 4-H time again!   Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:30 am

O.K., everyone! This Saturday is our town's 4-H show. As you know, Damis (15 yrs.) is showing a lamb, Annie, and Shiloh (9 yrs.) is showing a goat, Billy.

I am nervous about this show. David said that there are 13 lambs being shown and 12 goats. I am just hoping that my boys do well and place.

They would be thrilled if they got grand champion and reserve grand champion, but I highly doubt it, since there are so many entries.

Also, it will be Shiloh's first time in the ring, so I am double nervous.

Both boys will show their animals on Saturday. The judging starts at 8 a.m. with the hogs up first, then the lambs and then the goats. The sale is Saturday night.

Wish us luck!

Weigh in was on Friday. Damis called and said that Annie weighed in right at 140 lbs., which is the weight limit! I am so happy! Luckily, both animals get to stay in the same pen, so they are all set. They are very attached to each other and it will be hard when they have to be separated.

O.K., it is over and I am glad! Both boys didn't do great, but didn't do too bad.

They both got red ribbons, which Shiloh was upset about. I told them both if they had worked more with their animals, the results would have shown through the show.

When it came sale time, the most Damis could make with his lamb, since it had a red ribbon, was $400, which he got right away without any bidding. The surprise for me is my boss bought it.

As far as Shiloh, he also got it bought out right for $525.

So, overall, it went O.K.

Thanks for all your well wishes! I really am glad it is over!

I've never participated in a contest like that... I'm sure it could be nerve wracking... I'm glad it's over and that they got red ribbons. If they were not too happy with that, maybe this will make them work harder next time. The important thing though is that they have fun with it. Tell your boys good job. :sillySmiley:

I'm sorry I'm just seeing this.

I am glad to hear that it went pretty well. That's cool that your boss bought Damis' lamb.

It is over. Til next time! *LOL* Seriously though, it sounds like a wonderful experience.
