I've never put salt and pepper in French toast; that might be interesting. I make mine like Pam minus the sugar. We sometimes make Kara's favorite which is Stuffed French Toast. You put cream cheese and strawberry jam inside 1 inch thick slices of Italian bread of all things. Then you dip it in the milk/egg mixture.

Ok, sorry if I come across as ignorant but are you talking about the Italian bread being in loafs like the garlic bread? Or is it sliced like the regular loafs of bread? And do you cut the bread like a pita & put the ingredients inside? It sounds really good!

It's the Italian bread that you find in the bakery area of the store. It's more of an oval loaf. You slice it into 1.5 inch slices, then make a slit in each slice that goes about 3/4 of the way through. Spread each side of the inside with cream cheese and add about a tablespoon of strawberry jam, then dip in your egg/milk mixture and cook like usual.
