I've been exercising everyday (resting on Wednesdays) for at least 30 minutes. I need to get rid of the bad cholesterol.

Anyone have any tips? Besides exercising...

You're already doing one of the things recommended: Drink more water. Need to lower my cholesterol 70708 Oatmeal is supposed to help lower bad cholesterol, and so does cinnamon. (And cinnamon happens to taste really good in oatmeal. Need to lower my cholesterol 702150 ) Foods that are rich in Omega-3 oils are especially good for lowering the bad cholesterol levels in our bodies. Sardines are highly recommended - and I lately found out that they're actually tasty, too. But if you don't want to give sardines a try, there are lots of foods that are high in Omega-3....Check out the American Heart Association's website, too. They have a lot of helpful information regarding foods that can help you along. Need to lower my cholesterol 185146

My hubby eats oatmeal or Cheerios for breakfast every morning. Quaker instant oatmeal makes a Heart Healthy version, which has Weight Control printed across the box. It has a higher amount of fiber than the lower sugar one, so that's better for you.

Paul takes medication, but he also exercises 5 days a week. He also eats very few sweets because his father is diabetic, and one of his own blood tests came back a bit high two years ago. He changed his entire diet at that point. His one weakness is ice cream. We buy a low fat, low sugar version most of the time, but if I can't find that, I am sure to pick up a low fat one. Even our crackers and snacks are low fat. He uses Land O'Lakes spread on his vegetables instead of butter.

We eat chicken most of the time. Some fish. We have red meat only once, maybe twice a month. When I make things that need batter, I use Bisquick Heart Smart.

You've already gotten some great advice, the only other thing I can think to add (but you probably already do) is to check food labels. I always do that now and it steers me to making healthier choices.

Carol, Amongst my other issue... My blood work came back with High cholesterol results. After my surgery I will have to address this issue myself, so I am taking notes. I see some great ideas... but I won't do the sardines. No

Just try to cut out the fatty foods and yes fish is high in Omega3s.
