In the travel section of today's Detroit Free Press (a newspaper here in Michigan), there's a really nice article about Buenos Aires! I thought you might enjoy reading it...

Hey, Rob! Great article...But we cannot depict in words how Buenos Aires really is. The Palmettos who reminded a visitor the GA savannah, are not ours, but added by President Menem administration, that let me say it, was not terrible at all. The palmettos are not from our weather and some of them had just dried out, the poor ones...

But yes; B.A is a great mix of Paris, Roma and Madrid with touchs of local and very special culture.Our European immigration make us a country very similar to the USA's or Australia. We have French, Italian, Middle-West, German, Brittish, Chinese, Jewish, Korean, Japanese and Eastern Europe people descendents living here. So, our telephone annuaries are pretty hilarious...You may find a Gonzalez just aside a Giacometti, and a Kataoka, close to a Jenkins. All this, added to our culture and gastronomy.

I've always wanted to go to Argentina. I saw a segment they had on Buenos Aires on the Travel Channel one time. I love when there are so many different types of culture, etc...

Living in Southern California for a time, I've dealt with a pretty good mix of people. I still remember the first time I spoke with some Argentinians at Six Flags Magic Mountain (I was 11). I was in line for a ride and my friends and I were talking about this person in Spanish and started laughing. Then the group behind us started laughing too, they looked white, green eyes and very good looking kids. They start talking to me in Spanish and I LOVED their accent! lol I just kept asking them questions just to hear them talk...hahaha
The same goes for an Indian friend of mine who was born in England... love love her accent! lol
